[quote:Anonymous Coward 402293:MV81Mjc0NjVfODExNDc5OV85M0MyOENGMg==] [quote:Sireen-reborn] What I found interesting growing up in California is the variety of hispanic cultures and versions of the language. Someone from Brazil could be identified by how they speak. It's different then how those in Mexico speak, and those from say El Savador have a different variation as well. Some would believe the Mexican's version of Spanish is a little more polluted (more of a combination of varieties)then say those in Argentina. What's even more facinating is how easy it is to understand Italian if you know the more unpolluted version of Spanish.
There are many variations of the language. I find it easier to understand a Sicilian than a mainland Italian. I found it easier to understand because I also know a bit of French. There's also a lot of racism w/in the different cultures too. Most Puerto Ricans are more European looking or African looking than Indian looking, so we get together with who we look the most like. I look like I'm from India or Peru. Go figure.
Some people on this board believe that anyone that writes anything Spanish must be an illegal Mexican wetback.
Just for the record, there are many of us who are not from Mexico, not illegal, are American citizens, came here legally and stayed here legally from other countries, came from Puerto Rico (an American commonwealth).
