Atlantic City. the guy was from Philly. i was playing 5/10 outside bets, mostly red/black. this guy strolls up, and places black chips, which are worth 100. he bets on red. i watched the board, and black was like 7 in a row. he lost. he doubled the bet, like about 400. he won. he got my attention. he was willing to talk. i sort of followed him around, and he was friendly enough to tolerate my noodlish behavior. i watched for a while. he did not win every time. but he followed streaks. i asked about it. he said, yeah, the ball does not know what it just did, you know, the law of independent trials. the odds of one spin being black is still the same, no matter how many blacks have shown up. but, he said what is in play is the frequency of how many times you see 7 blacks in a row. of course, you will see three blacks in a row much more often than 7 in a row. so, look for 10 or 12 in a row. that happens much less often than 3 in a row. so, he bet accordingly. if the long streak continued, he stopped. he bet once or twice on a streak, then walked away if it did not win. on a busy night, you see many streaks on roulette tables. i learned to bet twice on 5 black/red in a row. i did all right.
just thought i'd pass that on.
