In a perfect world we would stop all abuse immedietly, but I'm not sure how we do this since its such a widespread problem. Which approach do you think is better, watch the abuse and think critical thoughts or approach the parent and try to make a positive difference. I'm not saying you would have any affect but it has more chance then judgemental thoughts kept to onceself. [/quote] Exactly, abuse is abuse when all said and done, the flavour doesn't matter, and in roughly 50% of all abuse cases there are elements of all 3 kinds! I think they should ALL be punishable by law based on the severity of each particular case, i don't think anyone should approach offenders themselves but call the appropriate authorities to handle it. If we see someone slapping seven bells out of their child in the street most of us walk on by thinking "jeez what a bitch" or "i wonder what he did to deserve that" but if we see an adult slapping seven bells out of another adult who is crying and screaming, we would feel the urge to call the police, why?....imho it's because we don't see children as human beings, we see them as property of the parents with no individual rights like an adult. And i have noticed this for decades and it just happened again yesterday in the local grocery store where this black lady and her 3 kids were in the store, well two of the little girls approx 4 and 6 were playing and the 4yo fell down and started to cry and the mother turns around and yells at her, so loud it covered the whole store and then yanked her up by 1 arm while she was crying and smacked her 5 times hard and cussing her out for fooling around.
I see this go on alot and as posted always have with black women and their kids.
Every time i see this i know if i was a social worker i would immediatly take the kids away right there and have the parent arrested as these are just kids doing kid things and i turn red in the face when i see this crap.
Is there any black people here that care to fill me in on this and why this takes place?
