In my opinion poetry like that is the best poetry. Oh sure you can write about the flower in the field or the junkie dying in an alley with a needle in their arm. But at least in my opinion you have to attach both the flower in the field and the dying junkie to the grander picture of WHY.
That is the grandeur of poetry. That is the essence of poetry in my opinion. The fact that it is so hard to write small poetry. For my taste poetry is like thunder if you can connect the small to the bigger picture.
Just my little opinion/insight in to poetry. Poetry fascinates me. Poetry reaches a pinnacle of human speech and thought process when concerning words and life. Like regular folk turning from mortals to wizard beings (of a sort) in just a short period of time. That is the way i see a society where poetry is large.
Remember words are a very powerful thing.
