Original Message Concerning the stream of attacks on Obama, labeling him as an ultra-left wing marxist, communist or socialist, i have a simple answer: TOTAL NONSENSE.

Again the americans her shown they have no idea about the political spectrum, that they let themselves carry away by 70's cold war rhetorics, and the silly idea that a society that takes more care of the ones who (tend to) fall out of the 'rat race' is rapidly moving towards communism.

I know, you have been scared as little kids by the evil communists, the boogeymen from Russia and China, that kind of propaganda has sure taken its toll.... lol

But the simple fact is: Obama isnt all of that... Marxist, communist or socialist...those scary words your parents impregmented your brain with.

Obama is plain and simple a social democrat. The word 'social' might scare you, because it sounds like 'socialism', but when it comes to the current essence of the term 'social democracy', you have to go back to the late eighties and early nineties. (Do some research for yourself, it will do you good).
At that time a number of people started to realise that unbriddled free market capitalism had it downfalls, that that system had it flaws... smaller and medium sized companies became victim of it, the system had the tendency to 'flatten down' the middle class, let alone the neglect of the underclass.
Free market capitalism has the tendency to concentrate the powers by some huge market capitalists, it leads to corporatism where the middle-class people are merely consumers and the lower-class people waste their lives in unemployment and crimes.
Some main goals within the social democracy doctrine are:
- to break down monopoly positions by big companies, to give more space for smaller companies to compete on the market.
- To support and activate the lowerclass people to get back to work again.
- To regulate the 'trade in air' on the financial markets, that often overshadows the real issues: people trying to keep their job, little companies trying to find their way among corporations that are often stagnating the free market.

To conclude: I am not sure why you do let yourself influence so much by people who use ancient fear tactics like: whatch out, he is a commie!
When at the same time you can keep your cool, use some common sense, and notice that Obama's ideas about american politics and society have nothing to do with a state-controlled, undemocratic, rigid society you seem to be so affraid of.
