[quote:TVZ 517486:MV82NjY2NjZfMTAxNDg4MDVfMzQ4MUIyREU=] Some of these things may have already been listed if so sorry for the repeats! Give to a charity in a friend or family members name . They are really going to be hurting now... Arts & Craft shows. Most schools or churches have them this time of year look in the news paper or watch for signs. You wouldn't be able to buy for everyone there but it is a good place for mom and grandma gifts LOTS of girlie stuff. Sometimes you can find a guy that makes beautiful hand made wooden toys.. THRIFT stores. I have had more then one Christmas that I was thankful they were there. One year it was the only place I bought gifts... Make something from your heart, food is always welcome. If you don't think the kids would care about that maybe wrap up a box with all the suff to make their favorite candy cookies and a note to make it together... put together a scrape book of pictures they may have never seen. Or a REALLY nice picture of them or their family...(MAKE the frame) Give a gift of time. if you say all my kids want for the Christmas is computer, x-box stuff. Give them a family board game and TEACH them how to love it. You come with the gift... A gift of an evening...Take your partner out to an event or place he/she would love to go to that you ALWAYS say no to...And act like you LOVE it!!! LOL Families with young children, get together with other parents and swap unwanted good toys. Make it an evening out for the parents NO kids allowed... See if you can buy art work from students from the high school. You would be amazed at some of the work they do... I can go on and on about this. This NEED to be a national event...These are things everyone is going to have to get used to. Our lives are changing and everyone (kids included) are going to have to except it. It doesn't mean our lives are going to be any less happy because we don't have the latest what-not! One year when I was little and my dad was out of work my mom made my baby doll a BEAUTIFUL new dress and put her under the tree in it. I was just was excited to see her in this new dress as I would have been to get a new doll. One of the things I have never figured out and kind of bugs me is why they started selling Barbie dolls with different outfits on them. Why do little girls have to have boxes of barbie dolls instead of one or two like it started out and a case with pretty little outfits and shoes that you bought seperate from the doll? Side note: I went to the mall this weekend. Concord Mills in Charlotte....I can't believe all the people there. I was shocked! It took me 25 minutes to get into the parking lot. People were buying things like this (it was cute) computerized golden lab puppy..$179!!!...Good grief, some people of no clue what is going on! [/quote]
