[quote:HannibalTheCannibal:MV82OTU2NjFfMTA2NzUyMDRfRUY1QzU2NkE=] [quote:Liquid Reality] My experience was opposite, I loved the spare writing of the first book! The thing began declining after the Wastelands (I knew we were headed for choppy water when the Emerald City made its appearance), and the final book left me feeling like Stephen King had mugged me and then defecated on my pillow afterwards. Betrayed and ill-used, if you see what I mean.
Is the experience like 'The Stand' then? LOL First 1100 pages are amazing and then its like king got bored and thought fuck it ill have god save the day at the end. I love the first 3/4 of the stand but the ending is awful.
Thought starting 2009 with a light hearted thread about whatever GLP'rs are reading.
Im going to update this thread as i see fit with anything im reading, or have just purchased for reading, its an interesting idea as if you find certain posters have a particular interest, you can check back later and look at the list of literature they post, hopefully giving people ideas about potential brain food and books they should check out.
Chowing my way through Jules Verne 20'000 Leagues Under the sea at the moment, old classic i have never read cover to cover, i bought about 50-100 books last year, my collection is turning into a small library.
So for me for 2009 its just.
