[quote:nameless 611376:MV83NTQwNzFfMTE1NzQ4ODhfREJEMEUyODA=] [quote:LouisWinthorpeIII] It's the 1st computer I ever bought, I just got it back and I like the case. After I wrote my question I started thinking of maybe replacing the motherboard and processor with a quiet core 2 duo compatible one. The noise this computer makes annoys me, and all for 800Mhz. So I have one new question, is it possible to replace a tower with a Pentium 3 motherboard with a newer one? Will the connectors still work? Power button, etc? Ok it's a sentimental computer... Now for the bad news. Sony cases will only fit sony boards. So you'll end up needing a whole new box. It's not the end of the world, as the clone stuff is cheap as hell.. You can't compete with Taiwan/China... Another thing you would find even if you were to use lots of double sided stickey tape, is the slots may not align, the block for the keyboard/mouse/ethernet almost certainly will not fit, and you'll have to drimmel it out... Again it may not even fit properly. Also the power supply from a p3 may not be enough to drive a core2/with a nice video card... Did I mention it probably won't even fit? On the budget stuff, I'd say check out Compaq/Acer.. Its "ok" stuff, but I got a quad core amd with 4gigs of ram, 750gb disk for $550.. I know it's hard to let go, I'd wanted to put a quad core in my old commodore 64 case if I could.. as it was my first, but you know it's the way it goes.
lmao quad core in a commodore 64 thats classic!
I have a Sony Vaio Pentium III 800Mhz computer, with 4mb of integrated graphics. I want to put in a new graphic card, that's fan less and produces very little heat. Any suggestions? The OS is Windows XP. I get lost with the specs. The card should also have an HDMI output, since the computer is connected to an HDTV.
