[quote:N34444:MV83NjY3OTlfMjc5MzA2NTFfRDQ0N0Q4QkI=] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1326739:MV83NjY3OTlfMjc5MjY4NjBfOUFGOEUwODg=] Do you all have employees? I guess you just "Do it all yourselves because your bad ass mother fuckers who answer to no one" We don't live in 15th century a barter style economy or culture. Its 2011, there are certain realities. We leverage each others time, energy and expertise... some of us. most of us. have to be employees. Otherwise our children will starve to death. were such pussies , aren't we?
You may need to be an employee today, but you don't have to STAY an employee forever. Being an employee is more of a "comfort zone" than anything. It's fucking scary as fuck to step out of that realm and start risking shit on a business idea. I understand that because I did it. I know exactly how scary that shit is - ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE KIDS! Nothing says you have to do it all at once. Start a side business and work it part time - that's what I did. At some point, if it works, you'll start making more money with it than you are at your job and you'll reach the point where you see that working for another man is a waste of your time and is actually COSTING YOU. Then, you'll know it's time to make the switch.
I do not choose to be a common person. It is my right to be uncommon- If I can. I seek opportunity-not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk;To dream and to build; To fail and succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; The thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.
Will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; To think and act for myself; To enjoy the benefits of my creations; And to face the world boldly and say, this I have done.
All this is what it means to be self-employed.
