Who was it that said it wouldn't be long before we started seeing pipe bombs in this country? Looks like you were right.

Detroit -- Customers were kept inside the Motor City Casino for hours Sunday following the discovery of six pipe bombs in a garage, Michigan State Police said.

Detroit Police spokesman James Tate said officers detonated two "suspicious objects" that were determined to be fake. They were found in the garage around 5:30 p.m., Tate said. Police were still searching for other objects, but by 9 p.m., patrons who used valet parking in the four-level garage were allowed to leave.

Casino patrons were told over loud speakers of a "police situation in the parking garage" that would force everyone inside to remain in restaurants or gambling areas. Some gamblers were annoyed they couldn't leave. The casino gave away free food at the Assembly Line buffet. Lines were 40 people deep.

Jennifer Hu, 33, of Clinton Township came to the casino to play the slot machines. By 8:45 p.m., she had waited more than an hour to leave.

"That's horrible," Hu said, when told of the bombs. "I don't even want to think about it."

At least two fire trucks, an ambulance and at least a half dozen police cars encircled the casino.

By 8:30 p.m., employees could leave the casino, but patrons still could not. By 9 p.m., the Dearborn Bomb Squad arrived on the scene.

The discovery prompted Detroit Police dogs to sweep the parking lot of the MGM Grand Casino. They found no problems, said spokesman Jamaine Dickens.
