Well sure because animals have soul's that allows them to have a heart beat but no spirit which is part of God Himself who makes the rules. Who are we to question God? Only our arrogance allows us to think that we have the right to question why one way is right or wrong. This is why we have God's word called the bible to help us know and learn what is right and wrong. When a duck is able to read the bible and understand it then I would start to be concerned for the duck but until then it only applies to humans.
