[quote:Anonymous Coward 715405:MV84MzAyNzNfMTI4ODM2MjBfMzNCNkE1MDY=] [quote:Diplomacy] if you paid attention to the book the aliens that came to earth to facilitate the transformation were essentially enslaved by the collective humanity joined. not their fault
Yep, very true. It makes you think about the nature of "god" and whether or not we are all slaves to him/her/it.
I just got done reading it...such a great work of science fiction.
Basically what happens is WW3 is about to break out on earth, aliens show up, but stay hovering in their ships for 50 years. During that time they bring world peace, eliminate poverty and sickness, and provide education for everyone on the planet.
They then show themselves after the 50 years now that humanity has gotten used to the idea of aliens being in the world. Their appearance is quite upsetting to people, but you'll have to read it to figure out why.
It was written in 1953, but a lot of the themes are consistent with the 2012 and new age philosophies of ascension, and a cosmic mind.
It gets much more interesting! It's also a very short book and I read it in just a few hours. I highly recommend it.
