Original Message I was talking to a credit counselor yesterday, and he asked how much my husband and I spend on groceries monthly. I said about $600. He said that was an exorbitant amount to pay for only two people!!!

I told him that it costs us about $150 weekly and we usually cook everything from scratch, and that it was not "exorbitant" it's called inflation!!!

He said that we should be spending about $50 PER PERSON - per MONTH!! Then he tried to push a bunch of state and charity programs that "help with food, medical and prescriptions."

I told him that we don't need help with food, prescriptions or medical care... we were just having some problems paying our mortgage.

My question to GLPers is: Is $600 too much?!
