Moscow , Aug 6 Ahead of the first anniversary of last August&aposs five-day war with Georgia, Russia today asked Tbilisi to ink non-aggression pacts with its two breakaway provinces of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

"It seems that despite the failure of their irresponsible venture last August, Tbilisi&aposs authorities have no intention of abandoning their plans to restore Georgia&aposs territorial integrity by force. We therefore insist that they take on a legal obligation on the non-use of force," Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said.

He underscored that Georgia must take unconditionally take this obligation as this is the only way Tbilisi can restore at least a minimum level of trust with its neighbours.
