Original Message WASHINGTON – An innovative new campaign to alert Congress of widespread grass-roots opposition to massive new spending plans as well as other objectionable and intrusive legislation is already responsible – in the first 72 hours – for the distribution of 700,000 "pink slip" notices to members of the House and Senate.

"Send Congress a Pink Slip" campaign Friday and it has already reached one-seventh of its stated goal of 5 million notices, individually addressed, personalized with senders name and address and delivered to all members of Congress by Fed Ex. Already, 700,000 of the "pink slips" are on their way to Washington.

"This looks like a historic effort – comparable to the massive march in Washington, the tea party rallies and the town hall actions," Full Article : [link to www.wnd.com]

UPDATE: WASHINGTON – Members of both the House and Senate are going on the record to commend WND for its dramatic "pink slips" campaign notifying members of Congress that they will be permanently "pink-slipped" in 2010 if they vote for bigger and more intrusive government.

"We've already received thousands of pink slips in our office, and I think this is a good wake-up call for Congress," said Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., the latest member of Congress to weigh in. "I'm encouraged that Americans across the country are standing up and speaking out for constitutional, limited government. Congress needs to get the message loud and clear: stop the spending, stop the takeovers, and stand up for our freedoms.

"This is causing quite a stir in Congress – and we're just getting started,” said Faith2Action President Janet Porter, who came up with the idea. "It’s unprecedented and has captured the attention of even those who haven’t been listening to the town halls and tea parties. They are starting to trip over boxes with personalized messages they can no longer ignore!"
