[quote:Anonymous Coward 778302:MV84ODk4MjRfMTM3NzU5NTRfMzFDREFGRDY=] [quote:Anonymous Coward 778302] Can We Pray to the Holy Angels? One reason why many Protestants find prayer to angels and saints objectionable is they think that prayer is worship. Actually, prayer is a request; this is the ancient meaning of the term. Catholics worship God alone, but we make requests of God, the holy angels and the saints in heaven. Some Evangelicals claim it is wrong to directly address any being in heaven other than God. But the Bible does not say this; in fact, two of the Psalms contain invocations of angels: "Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure." (Ps 103:20-21) "Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts." (Psalm 148:1-2) Since God wants us to pray these Psalms, there's obviously nothing wrong with us addressing the holy angels! Our request in this case is that the angels offer prayers of praise to the Lord. But we can also ask them to offer prayers of petition to the Lord on our behalf. For the angels of God do intercede for us, as shown in the Apocalypse/Revelation: "And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand." (Apoc/Rev 8:3-4) Here we see a holy angel offering the prayers of the saints (a term used for Christians on earth in Scripture) before the throne of God. Here is biblical proof of angelic intercession! The heavenly hosts are deeply concerned with the well-being of the Church and all her members. God gives them charge over us to be our guardians (Psalm 91:11-12; Daniel 12:1; Matthew 18:10; Acts 12:5-11, 5; Hebrews 1:14); and surely these blessed spirits must pray for their charges! We also have fellowship with them as fellow citizens of the heavenly Jerusalem (Hebrews 12:22). We should not and do not worship them as we worship God, but we can still love and talk to them, even as we love and talk to fellow Christians on earth. :hf:
Anyone believing we shouldn't pray to the angels for their help and all our prayers should be directed to God alone, I'll ask the question again. Why were all the prayers said to the Archangels answered in the stories here if God didn't wish it?
Original Message
September 29th is their feast day.
It would be neat to share Heavenly messages from the Archangels and stories of their intercession.
