Original Message I'm not sure if this has been discussed here. There's a conspiracy theory that claims that Pope John Paul I was murdered because he knew about a scandal that involved members of the church. I think this claim influenced the plot of "The Godfather Part III". IIRC, criminal Freemasons and shadowy financiers teamed up with the Mafia in some scheme involving the Vatican Bank. One of the Italian Freemasons from the P2 Lodge was found dead on Blackfriar's Bridge (on the Thames?). Law enforcement officials first thought that he committed suicide, but they discovered that it was a hit job. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
