Original Message I bought a small tray at a thrift store, the only marking was "Made in Japan". It was also heavily tarnished. It was also not magnetic at all.

I used a propane torch to melt it all down. Now I have a 10oz pool of silver colored metal, that can be polished to a shine.

How can I test it to see what material it is?
