[quote:Anonymous Coward 851189:MV85NTI3MDBfMTQ4MTk0NjhfMjAzMjc3RjQ=] It was a term used by English speakers to abbreviate Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. From the first 2 syllables of the German pronunciation of Nationalsozialistische: Na-tsee-oh-nael = Na + tsee = Nazi. Nothing more complex than that, just as using the term "commie" for communist or "bolshi" for bolshevik. [/quote]

I am trying to find out where the word "Nazi" originated from. So far, I am aware that the German Jewish community and also the european Jewish community in general were referred too as ashkenazi jews. Is there any link between the two words?
