I have been following this thread for a while now and it is frightening how many things I am reading on here that stir something up in me. I was in a gifted program in my state in the midwest. I don't remember anything unusual about that so much but I do have some disconnected memories from child hood that make no sense. I sometimes wonder if I didn't just make them up in my own mind. I think there are people in this world who are so extremely gifted, not just intelligent, but capable of changing the world. Have you ever felt like you could influence everything around you just using your thoughts? Have you ever experienced so many episodes of sychronicity that you think this isn't just random deja vu but something strange is going on? I just randomly remembered my dad telling me a story one day about how he used to be in the Rosecrucians, when I was very small. He told me how they practiced perfecting the ability of moving things with their mind. I've never been able to do that, that I know of. But he has never brought it up again. He said he started to get freaked out about what they were doing and quit. Maybe some of us have natural abilities we don't have to perfect and those are either interesting enough to study, or threatening enough to be watched very closely. Who knows. Like I said, I am probably just rambling.
yes, in answer to part of your question... and you can move objects with your mind - via chi energy - and qi gong training... like star wars and the jedi... you harness 'the force'... dont believe in the force? read book called 'the field' by lynne mctaggart... also on youtube you can see a qi gong master or two moving objects on a table wit his mind (was on chinese news); also a guy who sets a newspaper on fire with his chi energy... :) i am sure they probably dont want the general population to know this... qi gong i believe used to be practised in secret by the chinese emperor and some priests etc... it's all very star wars... :yoda:
How is this any different really from what Gowan was talking about in Operations of Increasing Order, right down to a new paradigm even? This is definitely what they taught us (not the specifics per se for sure) so why the wholehearted trust in it? I'm still making sure to question everything, especially if it's something that the program said or did. Maybe I'm just a stick in the mud but I'd rather be a stick in the mud than someone who spends another 30 years never questioning the stuff they taught me. I'm not willing to just blindly accept or discard though. That said, I was thinking of electromagnetic fields today. My family has an interesting trick of being "invisible" to certain types of sensor technology (ie automatic faucets, paper towel dispensers, finger print readers, and screwy interaction with touch screens). What if our fields are very different from the normal? Everything but the touch screen means that the eletromagnetic pulse is uninterrupted. Not sure why or how but that's the only explanation I can think of. It's a field anomaly.
A difference might be that Chi has a very long history in eastern culture. And has been used by monks etc for thousands of years. Chi, body temperature, breathing and a few others are lower brain functions, most are easy to do and replicate with practice. I've recently gotten better at controlling my body temperature. Still no where near what the monks can do, if I can get close that would be awesome. However, it still takes me effort staying warm in the upper 50's wearing a t-shirt.
Yes but last I checked, the US was not the Far East. Even Gowan plead ignorance in even the attempt at trying to teach that which has been practiced by shaman for centuries. He was a psychologist--not a shamn or anything remotely close-- and stated as such. We have this pathetic tendency as a culture to adopt other culture's spirituality and have those "teachers" of it tending to be those who had nothing at all to do with the originating culture. We do it with Eastern philosophies and religions. We do it with Native American beliefs and practices. I've actually been treated by a real and authentic medicine man (the guy drove a beat up truck and got paid in sheep because rich medicine men are evil plus he didn't speak a bit of English) and, thereby, have been witness to the details of their ceremonies from blessing ways to blackening ceremonies. However, my trying to emulate the medicine men would be the equivalent of my trying to perform neurosurgery after watching one on TV. So much detail, meaning and reasoning gets lost. Zero worldview adjustment. Based on my experience, the fact that my worldview was so close to a Nat Am one was the only thing that made it really acceptable to participate in any of these ceremonies so we, as a collective, might actually have a shot at grasping a different world view. However, the rest of what we were taught was pure psychological bastardization of indigenous and Eastern shamanistic rituals as filtered through a troop of psychologists and psychiatrists with a specific intent. Plastic medicine men--that's what we all learned from.
Were you ever removed, many times, from your regular class for "testing"?
Were you shown a series of high speed images on a television, not once, but many times?
Was the school psychologist selectively interested in you?
