There's a theory that this world is a "loosh farm" where spiritual entities feed off our "loosh" (the positive and negative energy we create). If these entities control world leaders then the planet can be run like a business where profits and losses are measured in the amount of loosh being generated. This is essentially the exact plot of the movie "Monster's Inc." but it was told symbolically so very few get it.
The Matrix movies explained how this works well. How can you miss the symbolism of Morpheus holding up a battery to Neo and telling him he's a battery? The thing that most people don't realize about the Matrix movies is that Zion was a part of the Matrix and Zion was creating tons of energy for the machines. Zion was a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire".
David dIcke and Michael Tsarion both talk about this process. Robert Monroe coined the term "loosh farm" but in his book where he discussed the theory he only spent about eight pages on it. Interestingly that book was supposedly heavily edited by the publisher before it was published (I wonder why). The researcher who goes into the most detail about it (of anyone I'm aware of) is Tim Rifat. I think Rifat often uses something I call "lunatic cover" which means that if you sound like a lunatic you can talk about anything even actual reality and people will allow it. Try to look past how insane this sounds and open your mind:
