[quote:Reality 886029:MV85OTA2ODBfMTU1NDYzMTRfODIyRkI1OUQ=] [quote:Anonymous Coward 883744] Normal. Crescent points toward the sun. The sun had just set so the crescent will point more or less toward the ground. R. ********************************************** OK, I can accept that. "It's normal" is certainly a much more plausible explanation that any of the TEOTWAWKI stuff we've been seeing lately. It's just funny that I've been looking at the silly thing for 46 years now, and that's the FIRST time I recall ever seeing it on the bottom. [/quote] Watch it next month on the 17th & 18th. It will be even more "pointing down", but only by a very little. Then as summer approaches the waxing crescent will start to slew more toward the side of the moon, but still point down. Have fun. R. Earlier on the way to the store, I saw the new moon - what there was of it - and it struck me as strange.
Know how you have that crescent sliver of white showing? It's on the RIGHT side for a new moon, and on the LEFT for the waning moon, right?
THis sliver was damn nearly on the BOTTOM.
Follow me? I mean granted yes the crescent is not perfectly left or right, it's always rotated a bit, but this was almost perfectly on the BOTTOM of the disc of the moon.
Anyone else see this tonight?
FYI if it makes a difference, I'm in central NY, around Syracuse.
