Officials at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center are reacting to a bomb threat made Wednesday morning, sources tell The Daily Caller.

A woman who answered the phone at the Bethesda, Md. medical center for the military on Wednesday confirmed to TheDC that a threat had been made, but said she had no additional information.

A spokesman at Walter Reed did not immediately respond to a phone and email message left Wednesday morning. But the medical center tweeted on Wednesday that all “appointments at Walter Reed Bethesda have been suspended until 1pm today.”

Another source told TheDC that authorities are evacuating “building 19.” The medical center employs 8,500 people.

According to its website, Walter Reed serves “military families and our nation’s active duty, returning war heroes, veterans and our Nation’s leaders.”

A spokeswoman for the Montgomery County Police Department had no information on the threat when reached Wednesday morning.

This story will be updated as more information is obtained.
