English[edit]

Suffix[edit]

-ologist

  1. Alternative spelling of -logist (one who studies a subject)

Usage notes[edit]

Relatively few terms are directly derived using this suffix. Terms ending in logist are often derived from words formed in other languages or by suffixing -ist to a word ending in logy, as biologist = biology + -ist and theologist = theology + -ist, and snowologist = snowology + -ist.
