Norfolk Southern investigating train derailment in southeastern Pennsylvania

says it's investigating why one of its freight trains derailed in southeastern Pennsylvania, sending two cars into a creek.

The accident happened in Valley Township about  3 p.m. Monday as the train was transporting scrap metal for ArcerlorMittal, a steel manufacturing company in Coatesville, Pa.  Authorities say the derailment sent two cars plunging into the Brandywine Creek.

Norfolk Southern spokesman Dave Pidgeon says the company is investigating what caused the accident. He says the company is also assessing the best way to get the cars out of the creek.

Fire officials say there were no chemicals on the train and no one was hurt.
