CAPE CANAVERAL — NASA plans to extend the International Space Station's life to at least 2020 and add research capabilities, increasing planned funding by $2 billion during the next four years.
"This will keep a commitment to our international partners and develop the full potential of this amazing orbiting laboratory, where humans regularly do things we've never done before," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said of the outpost on which the U.S. has spent more than $50 billion.
