Message Subject Pastor of local Christian church gave copy of the movie "The Secret" to my friends doing premarital counseling

I found out that 2 of our friends who are getting married next month and are doing premarital counseling with a local nondenominational Christian church were given the movie "The Secret" as homework by the pastor.

The Secret is based on the power of positive thinking and the law of attraction. The idea is similar to other movies like "What the Bleep Do We Know" and is based somewhat on quantum physics.

Anyone else find this extremely unusual for a pastor to be giving this out? I thought it was really weird and kinda cool.

Nondenominational Churches often go for nontraditional literature and concepts to make Chriatianity more "palatable" to their audience.

Personally I see nothing wrong with incorporating the Law of Attraction into Christian concepts. Many would disagree, of course. MY opinion.

What I DO find unusual is THE SECRET being touted as THE book on the Law of Attraction. There are many, many books on the Law that are much better and more explanatory than Rhonda Byrne's little Moneymaking Vanity Project.

THE SECRET is very simplistic and caters basically to the "I want wealth and fortune NOW and nothing else" crowd.Nothing about enlightement and nothing about the SIX other Laws that are in conjunction with the Attraction Law.

The fact that James Arthur Ray (he of the Sweat Lodge of Death) was one of the major contirbutors should give you an idea of the validity of some of the concepts in THE SECRET.
Read THE KYBALION or soem of the books by Jerry and Esther Hicks. Much, much more educational and BETTER overall.
