We really don't know what Jesus said, since he never wrote anything down... hmm

Kind of like a biography?

The lack of textual evidence for Jesus' existence as compared to other supposedly less significant historical figures calls into serious question the authenticity of the claims regarding his life.
 Quoting: Least Servant

Not including Bible sources, the following people wrote about Jesus:
* The Jewish historian Josephus (A.D. 37-100)

*Pliny the Younger, imperial Roman Legate of Bythynia - in a letter to Emperor Trajan in A.D. 112

*Tacitus - the important Roman historian

*Suetonius - a Roman historian who compiled a biography of the first twelve Roman emperors in his "Life of Claudius"

*Thallus and Julius Africanus in A.D. 52

*Mara bar Serpion

In addition, there are thousands upon thousands of archaeological findings that point to Jesus existence.

I'm not saying Caesar Augustus didn't put one hell of a con-job on the planet. afro

I found Rome of clay; I leave it to you of marble.

The lack of a direct impression of Jesus' Magick Words would be the tell.

That quote isn't found in the Bible. It is a false teaching.

Read carefully:

"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed."
(Galatians 1:8-9)
The false gospel: If you don't continually perform, you're out.

The true Gospel: Believe.

He wasn't saying the kingdom of God is inside you, OP. Other translations say 'in your midst" and "among you".

look at these translations to see

[link to bible.cc]

You have to look at who Jesus was talking to at that very moment. They were the corrupt false religious leaders who were misleading the people. The kingdom of God was certainly not in them! Jesus had called them offspring of satan.

Jesus was talking about himself. He is bringing in the new kingdom or government. The new government was right in front of the corrupt religious leaders. The government was no more in them that the American or any other earthy government is in people right now. Government is around a person like a presence.

Jesus government is not here yet but it will be here one day soon. Satan's government rules for now.

Here is a short commentary

Vincent's Word Studies

Within

Better, in the midst of. Meyer acutely remarks that "you refers to the Pharisees, in whose hearts nothing certainly found a place less than did the ethical kingdom of God." Moreover, Jesus is not speaking of the inwardness of the kingdom, but of its presence. "The whole language of the kingdom of heaven being within men, rather than men being within the kingdom, is modern" (Trench, after Meyer).

The Buddha never wrote anything down, either. And it doesn't really matter if there was a teacher named Jesus (or Yeshua or Joshua or Ἰησοῦς) or not, because *somebody* collected some followers in the rural Middle East and then the towns, and the teachings stuck with people through oral tradition for several generations before they were collected -- first as the "Sayings of Jesus" (just the quotes used in Matthew Mark and Luke) and then in the letters attributed to the semi-legendary figure of Saul/Paul and then the gospels.

And what the Buddha and the Christ said are remarkably similar, and remarkably resonant even today as these ideas are expressed and felt through nature, meditation and other quiet forms of spirituality.

We are here, in the only paradise we will ever know. This is it. We can make it Heaven or Hell, depending on our own decisions and how we act toward other people and to the world around us, the world that we are literally made from.

Correct. The Kingdom of God is NOT inside most of these socalled Churches, where evil and Satan dwell in all their glory.

Ever wonder why the very sources that cast out devils are just burgeoning with them????

For myself, it´s my heart straight to my God. Period. And I have tried many religions, but since man himself is fallible and weak, it always plays out the same, with me being once again disallusioned and disenchanted.

God knows me and loves me, and I know Him and lean on His Love, Grace, Support and Protection.

Treat others as you wish to be treated, and love God with your whole heart, mind, soul and being, and everything else will fall into place.

That is the TRUE Golden Rule.

Blessings.

I truly believe this. I don't go to church. When I do (which is very rarely, I am usually dragged there) I find it hard to listen to anything that they say. I believe that if I wanted to pray or worship in anyway shape or form there's a perfectly good tree outside my house in which to do it, or just pray within myself. If I am supposed to pray in the house of god then it better be the true house of god, not in something that was built by man. I can't bring myself to absolutely believe in a religion, because any religion, doesn't matter how you look at it can be falsified. I find it best to remain neutral in every aspect of this world. There are so many things we don't understand and can't even begin to comprehend, so who is right - who knows? Is your religion the absolute truth? PROVE IT!
 Quoting: Harsesis 822519

The Bible is a book. A bunch of paper wraped in a cover. It has been rewritten and passed down so much that who knows what is true and what is not. Even though they read it and truly believe it, they are to drowned in their own perception to keep an open mind and relise that it is just a book and we can't honestly say that it is the true word of god.
 Quoting: Harsesis 822519

I have fallen far from god of my own will, I once held love for this being who only loves conditionally. I have endured pain and suffering (even when my faith was strong) which no man should ever have to endure - I do not accuse god of causing this, but I accuse him of letting it happen - free will lets us make our own choices, what if accepting help from god is our choice? Every discussion falls back to it being "god's Plan" which if god indended for the pain that myself and countless others who have endured so much more than me, I cannot respect him in the least. Though I live my life by a code of what is right and wrong that is similar to god's, I will not live my life for a being that judges those who don't live their lives for him, that is the epitomy of selfishness

Each saying has many meanings at many different levels.
Split a piece of work could be that when you can separate the good from the bad then you have found him.
Lift a stone could be that when you give foregiveness to your enemies then you have lifted the weight off of your shoulders and have found the true freedom which is being with him.

The Kingdom of God Is Within You (Russian: Царство Божие внутри вас [Tsarstvo Bozhiye vnutri vas]) is the non-fiction magnum opus of Leo Tolstoy and was first published in Germany in 1894, after being banned in his home country of Russia.[1] It is the culmination of thirty years of Tolstoy's Christian thinking, and lays out a new organization for society based on a literal Christian interpretation.

Tolstoy's relationship with Mohandas Gandhi

The 1st English edition of The Kingdom of God Is Within You.
Mohandas Gandhi wrote in his autobiography The Story of My Experiments with Truth (Part II, Chapter 15) that this book "overwhelmed" him and "left an abiding impression." Gandhi listed Tolstoy's book, as well as John Ruskin's Unto This Last and the poet Shrimad Rajchandra (Raychandbhai), as the three most important modern influences in his life.[2] Reading this book opened up the mind of the world-famous Tolstoy to Gandhi, who was still a young protester living in South Africa at the time.

In 1908 Tolstoy wrote, and Gandhi read, A Letter to a Hindu, which outlines the notion that only by using love as a weapon through passive resistance could the native Indian people overthrow the colonial British Empire. This idea ultimately came to fruition through Gandhi's organization of nationwide non-violent strikes and protests during the years circa 1918-1947. In 1909, Gandhi wrote to Tolstoy seeking advice and permission to republish A Letter to a Hindu in his native language, Gujarati. Tolstoy responded and the two continued a correspondence until Tolstoy's death in 1910. The letters concern practical and theological applications of non-violence, as well as Gandhi's wishes for Tolstoy's health. Tolstoy's last letter was to Mohandas Gandhi.[3]
