Who knows, once they start, they might get carried away and keep going until they reach 8 mile i don't know detroit very well, but i would assume there is a historic area with some very cool old buildings, i hope they can spare that stuff but when a large section of your city is a ghost town, it attracts nothing but trouble. green areas would be a good idea, to counter the brown belt Last Edited by malu on 03/09/2010 09:22 PM "By way of deception, thou shalt do war." There were more, but years of neglect has done them in. It's too bad they couldn't be restored to their former glory, to show what once was, and what maybe, could be again; quite literally, a Phoenix rising from the ashes. You know the ones that were built by drunk illegal aliens with staple guns and tape? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 687755I forgot to add and turn them back to the farm land they were before the shit boxes were on them. They really wasted some very fertile grazing land for cattle and growing land for sugar cane and cotton. |

ct User ID: 910589 United States 03/09/2010 10:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We all read this and joke and say what a great idea it is because Detroit is such a hell hole, but I think it is important that we step back and realize what we are witnessing. Events like these are historic, it took decades to build that city and now a large portion could easily be bulldozed? It fascinating and unbelievable at the the same time. And yet still not unexpected. |

There is a LOT of high quality steel in even one small bulldozer. I say fire them muthers up and get some return on investment! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 642285 United States 03/10/2010 01:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why can't Detroit and these other rust belt cities subsidize people who have lost their homes/jobs in other areas to move there, and participate in a rebuilding and revitalization program. Selling people houses cheap enough that they can afford them, then sweat equity to fix them up, and as people move in, services, groceries, etc., are going to be needed again. If the house is cheap enough and safe that it will attract decent people who WANT a home, even if it means living on SSD (which they can do if their house is paid for - or nearly so) it might be a way to rebuild the city. I remember when townhouses in Dupont Circle in DC could be had for a pittance and now they're worth millions twenty years later! |

Bing is nothing but a cog in the McNamara Machine. The whole state of Michigan is rotten to the core. Quoting: Hannahi totally disagree with that statement. michigan has a lot of natural beauty, plenty of woods and clean rivers, surrounded by the great lakes, four seasons , which gives a lot of variety. i love michigan. the beaches on lake michigan are as nice as any i have been in the country. No kidding! Once you get out of the tri county area, and get into the "real" Michigan, it's an incredibly beautiful state. From the powerful serene beauty of its great lakes, inland lakes, rivers and streams, that makes summers so enjoyable to the multicolor explosions of the fall leaves, Michigan is full of beauty and enjoyment. It truly is a sportsman's paradise; hell, it's a paradise for anyone. Even in winter, Michigan has its own austere beauty. The majority of Michigan is as beautiful as Detroit is ugly.
