I am sorry but there isn't anything you can do until paternity is established. You need to find out how to do this in the state that you are in. Quoting: A Nonnie Mouse+ 1 But, is it really worth the effort? Why tie yourself to him and set your son up for disappointment? It could bring this man back into his life only to have him leave again. And again. And maybe there are other reasons this guy doesn't want to be a father, maybe it's to protect your son? Some people are nuts like that. If he won't/can't be a father it's his loss, kwim? You and your son will be fine. Even if you eventually manage to get any help from him (or get a court to order it) what are the chances he'd even pay? And why give him legal rights to your child? Perhaps you should instead be finding out how to file abandonment papers so that if you ever remarry then your future hubby can adopt your son with no issues as that can be a pita in the future. And just tell your son like it is when he's old enough to understand. |

If paternity is established, then his disability will cover the child as well. |

He is the biological father, and regardless of you getting any support from him your son has the right to have his fathers name on his birth certificate. Also, If the dad is disabled I believe your son can collect social security to help with his support while he is underage. |

You'd probably do more harm than good trying to find him. For all three of you. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 852706Thing is though I have known several grown men whose father had run off and disappeared. It really seems to mess them up, especially in 20's and 30's and they want at least to know something about the father and go searching for him. Of the three men I have known in this situation only one traced the father. The father had already died but there were other relatives on that side he was able to become closer to. It seemed to complete his life to connect with the other half of his heritage. I think OP should find him and keep track of him for the sake of her son. Also, there may be aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandmas that do want to be part of her son's life. |

Leave the guy alone if he doesn't want you or the kid. Get a life and move forward. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 668328When the child gets older at least the mother can tell them she tried. Even if it don't work out. Damn, you fuckin least capable of anything mofo. Your probably on disability yourself. I'm sure if someone took your tv you would be looking for help! Daddy's leave their babies all the time, BUT some are willing to rationalize, notice I said some. It's always worth trying. But some dumbasses like this mofo I'm quoting above are fucking selfish. He probably left his right hand for his left one and is now caught amongst a bitter masturbation separation. I hope he chooses wisely, one hand might jump him at night. |
