322 - The Desposyni And The Descendants Of King David In The Early Christian Church
Did you know that the early Christian Church for well over a hundred years was led by "The Desposyni" (Which means, "Belonging To The Lord") And the Descendants Of King David?

Who were The Desposyni?

Sextus Julius Africanus's reference to The Desposyni is preserved in Eusebius of Caesarea's Ecclesiastical History:

For the relatives of our Lord according to the flesh, whether with the desire of boasting or simply wishing to state the fact, in either case truly, have handed down the following account... But as there had been kept in the archives up to that time the genealogies of the Hebrews as well as of those who traced their lineage back to proselytes, such as Achior the Ammonite and Ruth the Moabitess, and to those who were mingled with the Israelites and came out of Egypt with them, Herod, inasmuch as the lineage of the Israelites contributed nothing to his advantage, and since he was goaded with the consciousness of his own ignoble extraction, burned all the genealogical records, thinking that he might appear of noble origin if no one else were able, from the public registers, to trace back his lineage to the patriarchs or proselytes and to those mingled with them, who were called Georae. A few of the careful, however, having obtained private records of their own, either by remembering the names or by getting them in some other way from the registers, pride themselves on preserving the memory of their noble extraction. Among these are those already mentioned, called Desposyni, on account of their connection with the family of the Saviour. Coming from Nazara and Cochaba, villages of Judea, into other parts of the world, they drew the aforesaid genealogy from memory and from the book of daily records as faithfully as possible. Whether then the case stand thus or not no one could find a clearer explanation, according to my own opinion and that of every candid person. And let this suffice us, for, although we can urge no testimony in its support, we have nothing better or truer to offer. In any case the Gospel states the truth." And at the end of the same epistle he adds these words: "Matthan, who was descended from Solomon, begat Jacob. And when Matthan was dead, Melchi, who was descended from Nathan begat Eli by the same woman. Eli and Jacob were thus uterine brothers. Eli having died childless, Jacob raised up seed to him, begetting Joseph, his own son by nature, but by law the son of Eli. Thus Joseph was the son of both." Eusebius of Caesarea, Historia Ecclesiae, 1:7:11, 1:7:13-14

This was written in the early third century, and it corresponds EXACTLY with The Milesian Legend stories of "Milesius and Scota" (Or "Niul and Scota") when it says...

"And to those who were mingled with The Israelites and came out of Egypt with them"...

Excerpt...

"By these exploits Milesius found great favour with Pharaoh, who gave him, being then a widower, his daughter Scota in marriage"...

Eusebius has also preserved an extract from a work by Hegesippus (c.110-c.180), who wrote five books (now lost except for some quotations by Eusebius) of Commentaries on the Acts of the Church. The extract refers to the period from the reign of Domitian (81-96) to that of Trajan (98-117), includes the statement that two Desposyni brought before Domitian later became leaders of the churches:[9]

There still survived of the kindred of the Lord the grandsons of Judas, who according to the flesh was called his brother. These were informed against, as belonging to the family of David, and Evocatus brought them before Domitian Caesar: for that emperor dreaded the advent of Christ, as Herod had done. So he asked them whether they were of the family of David; and they confessed they were. Next he asked them what property they had, or how much money they possessed. They both replied that they had only 9000 denaria between them, each of them owning half that sum; but even this they said they did not possess in cash, but as the estimated value of some land, consisting of thirty-nine plethra only, out of which they had to pay the dues, and that they supported themselves by their own labour. And then they began to hold out their hands, exhibiting, as proof of their manual labour, the roughness of their skin, and the corns raised on their hands by constant work. Being then asked concerning Christ and His kingdom, what was its nature, and when and where it was to appear, they returned answer that it was not of this world, nor of the earth, but belonging to the sphere of heaven and angels, and would make its appearance at the end of time, when He shall come in glory, and judge living and dead, and render to every one according to the course of his life. Thereupon Domitian passed no condemnation upon them, but treated them with contempt, as too mean for notice, and let them go free. At the same time he issued a command, and put a stop to the persecution against the Church. When they were released they became leaders of the churches, as was natural in the case of those who were at once martyrs and of the kindred of the Lord. And, after the establishment of peace to the Church, their lives were prolonged to the reign of Trajan. Eusebius of Caesarea, Historia Ecclesiae, 3:20

A meeting between Sylvester (Pope Sylvester I) and the Jewish Christian leaders took place in 318....The vital interview was not, as far as we know, recorded, but the issues were very well known, and it is probable the Joses, the oldest of the Christian Jews, spoke on behalf of The Desposyni and the rest. ...That most hallowed name, Desposyni, had been respected by all believers in the first century and a half of Christian history. The word literally meant, in Greek, "Belonging To The Lord." It was reserved uniquely for Jesus' blood relatives. Every part of the ancient Jewish Christian church had always been governed by a Desposynos, and each of them carried one of the names traditional in Jesus' family---Zachary, Joseph, John, James, Joses, Simeon, Matthias, and so on. But no one was ever called Jesus. Neither Sylvester nor any of the thirty-two popes before him, nor those succeeding him, ever emphasized that there were at least three well-known and authentic lines of legitimate blood descent from Jesus' own family..." ...The Desposyni demanded that Sylvester, who now had Roman patronage, revoke his confirmation of the authority of the Greek Christian bishops at Jerusalem, in Antioch, in Ephesus, and in Alexandria, and to name desposynos bishops to take their place. They asked that the practice of sending cash to Jerusalem as the mother church be resumed... These blood relatives of Christ demanded the reintroduction of the Law, which included the Sabbath and the Holy Day system of Feasts and New Moons of the Bible. Sylvester dismissed their claims and said that, from now on, the mother church was in Rome and he insisted they accept the Greek bishops to lead them. ...This was the last known dialogue with the Sabbath-keeping church in the east led by the disciples who were descended from blood relatives of Jesus the Messiah. - Irish Priest Malachi Martin

The Desposyni (and The Descendants Of King David) went on to The British Isles, and throughout the world (Even into The United States)...For it is written...

"As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me" - Jeremiah 33:22

For all you know...YOU could be a descendant of King David (And even of The Desposyni) and not even know it...You may not even be aware that your family is Jewish! lol

Please believe me when I say to you...

The Lord works in MYSTERIOUS WAYS...

And...

TRUTH is MUCH MORE definately STRANGER than FICTION...

You are very welcome...And I know EXACTLY what you mean...

For approximately 150 years (if not MORE), The early Christian Church, was led by...The Disposyni (The Family Of Jesus, The Descendants of King David)...

"They became leaders of the churches, as was natural in the case of those who were at once martyrs and of the kindred of the Lord" - Eusebius of Caesarea

"Desposyni, had been respected by all believers in the first century and a half of Christian history. The word literally meant, in Greek, "Belonging To The Lord." It was reserved uniquely for Jesus' blood relatives. Every part of the ancient Jewish Christian church had always been governed by a Desposynos, and each of them carried one of the names traditional in Jesus' family" - Irish Priest Malachi Martin

They would have known more than most what "The True Church" that The Lord intended was meant to be like...

Interestingly enough, they wanted to reinstitute The Law, The Feasts, and many other things...But...The Holy Roman Catholic Church had "other" plans (as we have seen for nearly 2000 years)...And yes...It just NOW struck me how CONTROVERSIAL this thread REALLY is when you really THINK about it... - Genesis 49:8-10 Daniel 2:1-49 Revelation 5:5 Revelation 12 Revelation 18

"The Desposyni demanded that Sylvester, who now had Roman patronage, revoke his confirmation of the authority of the Greek Christian bishops at Jerusalem, in Antioch, in Ephesus, and in Alexandria, and to name desposynos bishops to take their place. They asked that the practice of sending cash to Jerusalem as the mother church be resumed... These blood relatives of Christ demanded the reintroduction of the Law, which included the Sabbath and the Holy Day system of Feasts and New Moons of the Bible. Sylvester dismissed their claims and said that, from now on, the mother church was in Rome and he insisted they accept the Greek bishops to lead them. ...This was the last known dialogue with the Sabbath-keeping church in the east led by the disciples who were descended from blood relatives of Jesus the Messiah - Irish Priest Malachi Martin

Very interesting indeed...For did not Christ Himself say...

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil" - Matthew 5:17

I dedicate this one to The Desposyni, The Descendants Of King David (The Tribe Of Judah - The Lion), and to ALL The World...

322 @4:28

All my life, I've waited and watched
through the eyes of faith
To see the consolation of Israel

And even though the flame of my life
is now growing dim
I know I'll see the Savior of Israel
For the Spirit of the Lord has promised unto me
That I would not see death
before my eyes have seen Him

The promise is alive, for through this little child
God's holy light illuminates Jerusalem

This child will cause the falling
and rising of many souls
A sign for all the people of Israel
This child will be the way and the life unto every soul
To every generation shall the Gentiles tell
For the way has been prepared
in the sight of every man
The Son of God Himself is born in Bethlehem
A sacrifice is made in the temple on this day
Redemption reaches far beyond Jerusalem

O Bethlehem, your star burns bright tonight
For my eyes have seen the glory of salvation's holy light
Has this little child come to redeem us all?
To save us from the fall
Redemption is in sight
Behold, the Son shines bright
Under Bethlehem's star tonight

O Bethlehem, your star burns bright tonight
For my eyes have seen the glory of salvation's holy light
Has this little child come to redeem us all?
To save us from the fall
Redemption is in sight
Behold, the Son shines bright
In Bethlehem tonight

O Bethlehem, your star burns bright tonight
For my eyes have seen the glory of salvation's holy light
Has this little child come to redeem us all?
To save us from the fall
Redemption is in sight
Behold, the Son shines bright
In Bethlehem tonight

When all the world was sleeping deep in darkness
A child in Bethlehem fulfilled the promise
The ancients prophesied a great deliverer
The one to break the curse of sin forever
He didn't come with any worldly fanfare
No royal treatment, just a dark cross to bear
In Bethlehem a brand new dawn is rising
A star to guide the way, forever shining
New hope was born for all creation that night
For through the darkness came the brightest light

Re: 322 - The Desposyni And The Descendants Of King David In The Early Christian Church
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever" - Psalm 23

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons. And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the LORD said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD. And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee. And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice. And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him.

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this. Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this. Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. - I Samuel 16:1-13

I basically have.

First of all, everything we've learned about Christianity as taught in today's churches is twisted and flat out wrong.

Jesus was Jewish and followed the Torah.

Our English Bibles translate Torah as 'law' however, that is not entirely correct - the Hebrew word more correctly means 'instructions' or 'teachings' which is why 'Rabbi' means teacher - Torah is 'the way of instruction'. Jesus said he is 'The Way'. The people of the early church were originally known as Followers of the Way and were considered a sect of Judaism.

Jesus came to fulfill the Law (Torah) not destroy it. What he did destroy or eliminate, was the Oral Torah - customs, rules and regulations made up by men and followed by the Pharisees.

In 70AD, when Emporer Hadrian crushed the Jewish revolt and destroyed the Temple, he banished the Jews from Jerusalem and outlawed Judaism. One of the most prominant Jewish customs was that of the Sabbath - anyone keeping the Sabbath was considered Jewish and thus persecuted.

Some Christian churches during this time, out if fear of persecution, began distancing themselves from Judaism first, by eliminating Sabbath keeping. By the time of the Council of Laodicea, where keeping the Sabbath was completely outlawed, hatred for Jews and anything Jewish at all, was reaching a peak.

There is SO much more I've learned and been shown in my quest - the above is just scratching the surface of the deception.

I found the quote from Father Malachi in Owlman's opining post the most interesting, hadn't read that before.

Re: 322 - The Desposyni And The Descendants Of King David In The Early Christian Church
Way cool! Thank you - I've been on a quest for the true church. Interesting info.

. .

Let me know if you find it, RS. I've been searching diligently for the past 35 years, and it still eludes me.

I basically have.

First of all, everything we've learned about Christianity as taught in today's churches is twisted and flat out wrong.

Jesus was Jewish and followed the Torah.

At the present time, I follow a combination of the teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong, and Messianic. Having neither of those to worship with, I go to Catholic Mass. On Saturday evenings.

How is that for a combination?

Alot of what your saying has also been confirmed by my own research....I've been studying the history of the church, genealogies, and even Biblical Hebrew, and your absolutely right...

Most of us know that Jesus was Jewish, but sometimes we forget that so were all of his disciples...It was nothing but "Christian Jews" in the beginning...

(I will post a great documentary about it here when I find it again in a few minutes)...

In my research I also discovered that my own family is Jewish (None of us had any idea whatsoever) I mean I literally didn't know about this until a few weeks ago...
Since then, I have been on a rollercoaster ride through history, discovering things that I honestly could not even have imagined could be true...I am literally BLOWN AWAY...

The Desposyni (and the descendants of King David) were so persecuted (even to death) that like you said, they had to stop observing the Sabbath (in order to save their own lives), but not only that, they had to stop naming their own after one of Jesus' family as was their tradition to do, and more and more they stopped observing other things in the OT that would have given them away, and eventually they even stopped speaking Hebrew (and other native languages like Aramaic), and had most of their genealogical records BURNED by those in power, and before long, you have got an entire generation that has NO CLUE whatsoever, that they were even descended from Jews (must less The Desposyni, and descendants of King David)...

And The Holy Roman Catholic Church (The so-called "Leaders", NOT the people), and These Secret Societies, have their blood soaked finger prints ALL over this...

Could revealing to the world that you are Desposyni, or a descendant of King David, bring such persecution on you today? (You would be surprised)...

What if one (or many) were to rise up and say something like...

"Hey, you people have got it all WRONG!...THIS is what we are SUPPOSED to be doing"...(Keeping the Sabbath, the Feasts...etc)...

This is FAR MORE controversial (and even DEADLY), than most people realize...Would you agree Rev. Spiralgazer?

May The Lord God bless you and keep you...

Sincerely,

OwlMan

Re: 322 - The Desposyni And The Descendants Of King David In The Early Christian Church
Yes! Yes! Yes!

I too only found out a few weeks ago and have been amazed and immersed ever since.

Though it has been my desire to know for awhile, God sent me on a quest just recently. It started with the question of who edited the Bible - who, how, when and why. In the process, I came across the Council of Laodicea outlawing the Sabbath and from there, the truth started pouring out like a flood. I'm in total and complete awe!

Danger? Who cares?! I choose God - bring it on!

Sister, not brother :)

I'm not sure which tribe or combination thereof. My father's family was Ukranian Jew. My mother's side is primarily Scot/Irish which would be either Dan or Judah. Since my mother's side of the family has royalty in the line, I'm more inclined to say Judah. We are also direct descendants of Charlemage who was of the Merovingian line, also 'said' to be descended from Jesus.

I've been so blown away by all that has been being revealed to me that it's about all I can think about - from the moment I open my eyes until I go to sleep at night. I've even woken up in the night and it all flooded into my consciousness - must have even been dreaming about it!

It has been (more or less) exactly the same way with me...And...The more I learn, the more I want to learn...

The Lord God knows my heart, and what I mean when I say this...But...I have in-all-honesty felt like Moses when he first realized that He was a Hebrew, and when he went out to look upon his brethren, and on their burdens... - Exodus 2:11

The Lord Jesus Christ told me face-to-face in a dream back in 1993, that...

"As I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" - Joshua 1:5

Thread: DREAMS,VISIONS,SIGNS AND WONDERS!!! - Joel 2:28; Acts 4:30 Rev 3:22

It was a very frightening and humbling experience...And...After learning about all of this...It is even more so...But...At the same time it is adventuress and exciting...(All Glory, Honor, and Praise be to Christ Jesus Our Lord)...

I just honestly don't know what to think about all of this, and I honestly have no idea exactly what The Lord meant when He spoke that to me, but I give it all to Him, for He is in control and I praise Him for it...

All I can say is (just as Moses did)...

Lord God...

That is beautiful...It reminds me of this scripture...

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened" - Matthew 7:7-8

I believe that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God" (II Timothy 3:16)

But I myself like to study and research so-called "Apocryphal Books" (Like "The Book Of Enoch" that The Bible itself quotes in Jude, and, why would the "Inspired Word Of God" quote from it, if it were not at-the-very-least, an important book?) Having said that however, I always use The Word Of God as a standard, and a ruler of which to measure them by...And...As long as we do that, we can never go wrong...

May The Lord God bless you and keep you...

It is the same verse but as it was originally written. The Gospel of the Hebrews is the original Gospel of Matthew which the Desposyni read from.

Check out the link- I believe you may find the commentaries quite enlightening.
