Good places to sleep when homeless? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 914167 United States 03/12/2010 08:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I really can't understand why you would become homeless. Are you too proud to take a job at McDonalds or just a fast food joint or doing some other shitty job? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 882450It still pays. Get a job and work and find something affordable on that income. If your a single guy and have no medical conditions you really have no excuse. You are obviously clueless, fast food offers part time jobs until you are really "in", Along with jobs at home depo, etc. A part time lob at micydees will not even pay the rent, let alone electric or food. You are one who still has a job and is purely ignorant of how impossible it is for some people to maintain the "life" as we have known it! |

They wants your stuffz Being that it's the time of year that it is, most places outdoors should be decent, if you can throw together a decent roof somehow, either with leaves and old boxes and junk, or some city structure.. Anonymous Coward User ID: 913767 United Kingdom 03/12/2010 08:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is what I would do. Go to a hospital in a big city. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 873052Go in the daytime and go to the floors and look around. Find an older person who has no flowers etc. Go in and talk to them. Ask them how they are feeling etc. Remember their name, room number and Dr.'s name. Write it down if you have to.That info is usually on the outside of the door. Now when nightfall comes around, go to the security desk and tell them you are staying the night. They will give you a pass and no one will be the wiser. Find a deserted place in the hospital and go to sleep. You will be safe. You can also find an empty room and take a shower if you need to. You can easily stay there about a week before people start to wonder. I though you had a very cleaver concept going until you went in a different direction to what I thought you were thinking at the end. I though that you were going to say "because no one cares for her or visits her, no one will be looking after her house, so find out where she lives (If your cleaver enough to get her to tell you etc) and stay there for a bit while she is in hospital (probably best to pick the terminally ill ward)". |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 912353 United States 03/12/2010 08:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In two weeks I will be homeless. I spent my last money on a nice tent, sleeping bag, backpack and whatnot. Buy a nice one-man tent and you can sleep just about anywhere. Quoting: Exciteryeah, even in cities there are parks that usually have a wooded area. but nowadays you can't leave your tent up during the day, which means you have to pitch it every night. also get one of those plastic tarps - brown or green - not blue. cover the tent with it, it will keep the rain from soaking through a nylon tent, which it will if it rains steady. |

I do agree that one should, while still having an address, look night and day for another job. Especially in a warmer climate if the job does not work out, find a job ANYWHERE before I was homeless. Employers usually have an "address issue", so find some kind of address elsewhere while still having one... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 912353 United States 03/12/2010 09:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I mean I don't get it. Mexican illegals are getting jobs. Why can't you? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 882450that's not really fair. lot's of people are out of work and jobs are not easy to find. it takes about 3 months at least to find a job. the exception is if you are in a city with a labor ready temp agency. you have to register with them and show up about 5 am, but they'll usually send you out on a job the first day or 2. I was homeless in washington state and worked out of labor ready for 2 months - choosing to stay homeless so i could save money for the summer. |

I have seen some in the high under areas of bridges at the sides, but get run off by cops. That provides cover from elements. Also there are large drainage ditches with pipes to cover the upper. Why would you need these? going to be homeless oon. Where do you live ? |

watcher User ID: 867005 United States 03/12/2010 10:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My oldest brother lost almost everything due to a bad divorce...having to pay child support and alimony to his ex who had been unfaithful to him AND maxxed out his credit cards leaving him with enough debt that he couldn't afford his rent on his apartment anymore. He did still have his van, though, and his job...so he slept in his van which he parked in his job's parking lot and they had showers there so he bathed at work. Ate out at a reasonably priced coffee shop close to work and ate sammiches, fruit, etc... in his van...didn't own a computer then so he kept in touch via email on the free internet at the library. He had a decent paying job, though, so he was able to live that way for enough time to get out of debt and then he was able to rent again...I forget how long it took him but I think it had to be at least a year. |

Trust me when I say homeless shelters are the last place one wants to be. The stuff that goes on in homeless shelters will blow your mind. We're talking about murders, rapes, assaults and many other things, things of which you will NEVER hear or read about. Why? If the crap that goes on in shelters hits mainstream media or whatever, the homeless shelters will get closed down. The PTB would rather have homeless people beaten, raped, or murdered behind closed doors rather than in the streets, if you know what I mean. |
