So you do like Ampex?

We are almost at a point where we can start saving again, and it might be good to buy some coins, if I can find a safe to keep them in somewhere.

I hide stuff/money in plain sight all the time,no need for a safe but i do have inport. docs in a fire-proof safe.

But my house has so much stuff in it,it would take you a week of going through everything if you wanted to find my stash.......

The "gold dollar" does not actually exist. Lets keep it very simple, in laymans terms. Treasury indicated it approved exceptance of the gold dollar, the gold dollar has not been minted for many years. Mr. Schiff believes in gold as a currency when our dollar collapses but our day to day lives makes it impossible to have transactions in gold or gold certificates. I idea here is to look at gold not as investment but security in a troubled time. You may need to barter for things, you are correct in saying you cannot eat gold, but you may need water, heating oil, fuel or something other than food. It would be prudent to buy some gold or silver for this reason. Be careful do not buy coins that are collectors they cost to much, you are looking for high grade gold or silver, you want metallic value. These troubled times are coming fast so try and widdle away at this, maybe buy a small amount every paycheck and stash away for your security. Good Luck fellow Americans.

OP, I'm not away of gold coins that are worth a dollar - they'd be pretty tiny!

My husband sold a 1g 999.99 piece a while back to a jeweller - I can't remember the exact amount but if I remember right it was around 30-40 bucks at the time.

Consider 1 gram is about the weight of a paper clip a dollar's worth would be not much bigger than a grain of rice.

Better to turn your money into land and barterable goods.

Gold won't do you any good when what's comin' down comes down.

Nothing is safe. Land can be seized and goods looted.

Gold is portable, but can be stolen as well.

What's coming offers no assurances no matter what you do. So, anything you can do is better than nothing at all. For those with both the fiat dollars to convert, along with the mindset, they have a long list of items, and gold/silver are just two items on the list.

What I generally argue is that the best thing you can do to assure your survival is to make A LOT of friends. The more people who like you, the more others are willing to either help you out or not harm you.

Ampex does not sell gold dollars

Gold dollars are paper tender backed by gold, not gold coins worth a dollar.

If he is talking about gold and silver ETFs, then stay away from them. They have way oversold ETFs vs the bullion they have on hand.
It is a ponzi scheme not much different than Bernie Madoff.
I honestly don't know if he is meaning this.

The only other thing I can think of is karat bars....search that term.

There is something called bitgold too miximg bitcoin with gold somehow.

Just buy the bullion. You can buy gold coins that are a quarter or half oz. You do not have to buy ounces all the time.

There actually IS something to this.

Your Federal Reserve Notes can be traded in for Lawful Dollars via 12USC411 ( [link to www.law.cornell.edu (secure)]

These Lawful dollars are backed by the Treasury which is still backed by gold.

By accordance with the Supreme Court, gold is worth $42.22/ounce. (that's US Dollars)
[link to openjurist.org]

So, it is possible then to buy gold with your Lawful Dollars for $42.22/oz.
Currently the "market" price of gold is $1400/oz so you do the math.

However, like OP, I have yet to discover just how to exchange my Lawful Dollars for gold.
