You heavily underestimate the capabilities of amateur astronomers. No... I merely question the sources of their data for calculation. Do you know where they get this data..? A wide range of data (regarding our solar system) JPL/NASA gets from amateur astronomers. E.g. most follow up observations of new discovered asteroids and comets are made by amateurs. Deep Sky Objeks is something different. .
