Healthcare deniers read this please...
I have a cousin who years ago started working as a chamber maid for Holiday Inn.Over the years she moved up the ladder from night desk to day desk then finally management.Perfect story of a woman caring about her work and moving forward in her career. She then transfers to Fairfield Marriott as a manager. As life moves forward she becomes pregnant like lots of working women do.This is all okay because she has insurance with Fairfield. Then one day she is working the front desk 8 months pregnant, she gets a call from her boss saying that by the end of the week she needed to come up with $300 to keep her insurance. She was also told that she would now have to be paying over $300 a month for her insurance. She made about $25,000 yr...Needless to say she could not come up with the $300 by the end of the week and could not afford to add $300 onto her budget. She lost her insurance right before having a baby...So she now works full time for Fairfield as a manager and has no health insurance for her or her 2 kids...Is this right?...More and more companies will do this...They will raise the copay high enough most people will drop out...Thus increasing the premiums on the ones who stay in.

In a related story my local hospital has decided to not hire smokers anymore. They test for nicotine in the drug test. This caused a pretty big uproar round here. The reason the did this was because the cost of insurance for a smoker is much higher, over the life of a smoker...My company charges smokers a $600 yr fee...Is this right?

The cost of the insuarance and the needs of the individual are two different matters. Your pregnent friend can and WILL have her baby regardless of the cost. No hospital in the US of A will deny her the care she deserves as a new mother. Insurance coverage is not an admission to the hospital.

This is one of the "lies" from the Obama adminstration. They keep linking the cost of the care to the need for that care. In fact, there is no hospital in the US of A that will demand any more than you can afford, insurance or not. Compassion and the Hypocratic Oath will not allow it.

This bill is nothing but another attempt to increase the control of the people by means of fear and intimidation.

Have a good day.

Having a baby only costs a few thousand dollars. What a cheapskate insurance company.

This was actually a year or two ago...She did have the baby...And guess what?...We paid for it anyways...She had to go on the medical card...With no help from insurance

A mother working full time on the medical card because they raised her rates so high...But lets not change anything...WTF?
