Yes. Forget the alien part though. It's about demonic possession, that happens all the time. And that is exactly what it was about. The footage was staged though. Everything was filmed for the movie.

The whole 'based on true events' was a ploy to get people interested, and to possibly induce fear after watching. Seriously, look it up. It's all on the internet.

Reason I post this is because my girlfriend and I originally saw it for the reason that it was based on true events.

Then, watching certain scenes, supposedly not re-enactments, but actual recordings, lead me to look up all the information I could on said material online.

Turns out it's all bullshit, every piece of it.

this was the only contact that I ever heard of that ended up with their backs broken , and ended up in a wheel chair, or going crazy and killing themselves, I talked to a couple vacationing here in Hawaii from Ankerage alaska and they never heard of this happening there. Or so many missing persons.. I believe in Alien abductions but not this story

It was in part based on events as described by people who alleged to have experienced them. They are elements in the film, certain descriptions, words, etc.

Whitley Strieber said his wife had lunch with the director before he made the film and some of the things she told him about her experiences ended up in the movie.

So it's fictional with real-life flavoring.

Supposedly based on true events.Names changed to protect the BLAH BLAH BLAH.I lived in Nome for a year and a half from 83 to 85.Very weird things happening in that town.I ahd a man break in my house & try to kidnapp me(i was 13) I tried to shoot him with a shotgun and the gun failed to fire.This is a gun that allways worked fine.2 days after the event it worked fine.
There is some lost time events that i have from Nome.I never saw aliens,ships,greys,mork from Ork or anything else,just lots of missing time.Kinda strange.Yes i am totaly serious.

2. Electronic equipment does NOT work around them. Even batteries fail. Car batteries too. So camera working in the house is a fake.

The point is not if the movie is fictional. The point is that it was the FIRST movie to talk straight in the balls, about the Anunnaki. I mean, there was that John Travolta/Scientology crap "Battlefield Earth", but "The Fourth Kind" just shown up real sumerian tablets and steles with rockets and ancient astronauts.
There's an European movie named "1 Anunnaki". It had an awesome creepy website, and would be released years ago. It was all based in the books of Zecharia Sitchin and should be the most badass alien movie ever. Guess what??? It just vanished.

It is fiction. The FBI was interested, and did have a presence in Nome for a few years during a rash of murder/suicides. So that was the premise and the rest was spun from there.

By the way...
There was no conclusion from the FBI about their findings.

Because most of the missing were Alaskan Indian, they did not trust the authorities. Can you blame them? People had already complained as well about the police brutality and nothing was done.

The story most accepted about the deaths were that they were alcohol related or they drowned.

How can you give a cause of death without a body? Most were never found.

An officer made a mistake one night however when he murdered a beautiful well educated 19 yr old native girl.

He was sentenced about 4 yrs ago to 99 yrs in prison.

A former Nome police officer maintained his innocence today in the murder of 19-year-old Sonja Ivanoff.

A jury in December convicted Matthew Owens in the 19-year-old girl's death. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison today.

Owens addressed the court before he was sentenced. "I pleaded innocent from day one and that's not gonna change. I am not guilty," he said.

He said he knows the Ivanoff family suffers, but he's not the reason for it.

The victim's father, Larry Ivanoff, argued that Owens should never be released from jail. "My whole family still has a tough time with this. My wife is still crying on my shoulder. A person who has done such an awful thing should never be allowed to be in public again," he said.

Owens will be eligible for parole in 34 years. Owens' public defender, Steven Wells, said he would appeal.

After the courtroom cleared, the victim's tearful family members, friends and supporters silently hugged.

"I think finally we can move on. I'm thankful that no other family has to go through what we went through with him," said the victim's mother, Maggie Ivanoff.

Last year, the city of Nome settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed against it by the Ivanoff family. Terms have not been disclosed.
