How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think. Adolf Hitler When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny. Thomas Jefferson "Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free." Jim Morrison |

To get it to stop bothering you, you could start meditating or doing spiritual exercises. Start with one minute a day if you find it challenging. The conversations will continue, but they won't bother you. Last Edited by AwthrAwthr on 03/24/2010 01:00 PM Got pain? Free relief. [link to lowerpain.org] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 915909 United States 03/24/2010 12:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have found this suggestion on a GLP post very helpful... When you become conscious of that 'inner dialouge" distracting you, just identify the place in your mind where it is taking place then look at it from an impersonal point of view and say "I see you." Shuts it up every time for me. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 869225 United States 03/24/2010 01:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | if you smoke pot, cut down your intake. When you want to stop the thought stream, close your eyes and roll them counter clockwise. Works like a reset button. The thoughts will come back, but with practice... And yes meditation, with a focus on stilling the thought stream, works, but it is a tough path, especially if there's damage from hallucinogens. Try to calm the chatter. It will return, but practice calming it down. Try to go as long as possible without a thought. HARD TO DO. Takes years for some folks. It is truly mental exercise, and most of our minds have gotten very lazy and spoiled. Remember you are not your mind, your mind is part of you. Tame it. |
