Just like so many doom 'sure things' that have been posted on GLP over the years, the dates pass and there is no further discussion - everyone just moves on to the next insider and the next date. This thread has been thouroughly researched, the data is strong, and a date not years but only a month in the distance is posted. It is either going to be a different world after that date, or it isn't. Either it's all over, and we 'transcend' to another realm (or just die, period) - or we continue to try and deal with a corporate driven capitalist society that is driven to expand at all costs without any common-sense understanding of the effects that model is having on our Earth. Hundreds of millions will work in slavery to ensure our coddled lifestyle continues, and wars will be fought to ensure it as well, and rich, sociopaths who can lie freely and convincingly will continue to rise to the top of corporations and governments and continue to be the worst moral compass any society can have. And as long as we can drive up to a Taco Bell window and order 50 gorditas at one time, the masses won't do much to change it. In the first scenerio, this model gets eliminated along with most of humankind, and in the second the same thing happens, only it may take a little longer.

Would it have gotten better or worse??
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1521959

From the article (thanks for a link btw... the op wouldn't provide one):
"But Dr McComas added that it was still unclear exactly what would happen if the heliosphere continued to weaken or what even what the timescale for changes in the heliosphere are. " yet in the same article it says that it has shrunk 25% in the past 50 years.

Look, they still can't understand how the brain works or cure the common cold. They look at this stuff and believe they understand it and they "see" a huge potential problem. It's like looking at the human body for the first time and saying "oh shit... all that blood is going to cause the whole body to just fall apart!"

They are looking at stuff they just don't understand. It's all conjecture.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1298967

And another thing he says in the article:
“It is likely that there are natural variations in solar wind pressure and over time it will either stabilise or start going back up.”

DOOM OFF.

eh, fuck it. You're not worth the time. You obviously have made up your mind.

I love to cook so temperatures mean quite a bit to me.

The fluff is about 500 degrees higher in celcius than the solar surface, not the solar interior which is much hotter.

Could the fluff combined with the magnetics and solar gravities be tickling our sun into overdrive?

Adding heat to the solar surface while drawing off the higher solar magnetics? This could be bad indeed.

The sun's surface is about 1 gauss, the earth is half of that, and the fluff is about 3 milligauss.

The sun's surface is about 5600 C the fluff is 6000 C.

I don't see an any day Doom one time event here but I do see a constant perturbation to our sun in even this simple idea.

Fact is it is going to get really really much hotter.

If I had all the money in the world I would go live deep underground in a well stocked bunker and store some seeds in the cold cold Arctic under some ice.
Oh gee, Didn't the PTB already do that?

I guess the best we can do is buy lots of SPF50 sunscreen and get used to no electric in a really bad heatwave.

So, is this ribbon of magnetism that is associated with a significantly higher than normal density of invading galactic dust part of the leading edge of, or related to the approach of, LaViolette's galactic superwave? (A monstrous wave of energy emanating from the periodic pulse of the super massive black hole at the galaxy's center)

"In his dissertation, LaViolette proposed that invading cosmic dust would have caused the Sun to become more luminous and engage in continual flaring activity. In chapter 4, he suggested that on one occasion the Earth and Moon may have been engulfed by a large prominence remnant "fireball" (coronal mass ejection) thrown out by the Sun during a period of particularly intense solar activity. He interpreted the findings of Zook and Gold as evidence that the Sun had been in a highly active T-Tauri like flaring state and that at times its flaring activity had been as much as 1000 times currently observed levels. He suggested that these may have scorched the surface of the Earth in ice age times, inducing high temperatures, rapid ice sheet melting, global flooding, and mass animal extinction."

LaViolette discovered that the ancient star lore connected with the Sagittarius and Scorpius constellations indicated the location of the Galactic center, conveyed the idea of an explosive outburst, and specified a significant past date of 13,865 ± 150 years B.C. which also is encoded in the ancient Egyptian Dendereh zodiac. Also LaViolette found that myths, customs and esoteric lore descendent from prehistoric times indicated that cosmic rays from a Galactic core explosion catastrophically affect the Earth and solar system in recurrent cycles with the most recent event occurring near the end of the last ice age. He wrote up this idea in an unpublished paper in 1979 and formally published these ideas in 1995 and 1997 in his books Beyond the Big Bang and Earth Under Fire. In Earth Under Fire he also connected Mayan cosmology and World Ages with the Galactic center and Galactic superwave events. He began discovering these associations around 1987.

There you go.

About peices it all together. High heat, no power scarce water, bad hurricanes, etc, for up to 20 years. That's Doom my friends. LOL

So, since most all think "Global Warming" is BS, could this possible be the reason why it has been pushed so hard in the past decade???

I have always been a sun worshipper. I live by my pool and in it. Tuesday I sat out like I usually do, but the sun felt like it was shining on me through a magnifying glass. Like a laser beam of heat directed.

Usually when it is hot, it is just hot all around, but I have never felt it so directed. In fact, and I am very tan I turned bright red in less than 10 minutes and had to go inside.

Later that night the red just went away it did not turn into a tan.

I thought of this thread immediately as I have been with it from the beginning.

Something is definetly not right with the sun on some days, it just burns like a blow torch 6 inches from my skin.

It is not going to ALL end.

That is the one and only real problem with all of these doomsday scenarios, including galactic core explosions, perturbations with the Sun, the Earth's magnetic field and so on.

What will eventually happen will be a transformation, not a decimation. And what will end will be the world as we have known it, and for all intents and purposes, the Universe as we have previously understood it.

But none of this represents the END of everything, far from it. The doomsday ethos has been installed into your paradigm by precisely the same forces who have always run the show here, for as long as the full extent of recorded history. Naturally, THEY want you to FEAR what is coming, but that is the last thing you need to be doing. Instead, you should be rejoicing.
