I think you are overestimating the new laws chances of survival. Mandating that every U.S. citizen buy a product or service from a private business is not a power granted to the Federal Goverment. At least it isn't listed in the Constitution, and that is what matters.
Sorry, but that argument has already been debunked.
If the government can FORBID you from purchasing certain things, then it can also OBLIGATE you to purchase certain things.
The Constitution is mute about both, which are the mirror image of each other, so if one is allowed, the other must be as well. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 471789Must vs Must-Not. We've already granted the government the right to say that we MUST NOT purchase certain things, so they automatically also have the right to say that we MUST purchase certain other things.
