"Photo-voltaic" tech could be powering most devices, but is suppressed. Light powered cells can be done with liquid crystal or actual crystals, and the light of a light bulb is enough to do it.

Light prisms in the crystal, creating energy absorbed and channelled thru and voltage regulator, via wire mesh or plate in the crystal.

I illegally got a light powered radio back in 1979, from Panasonic. You still don't see them on the open market, except used & sold off. Mine cost $60, and still works fine.

We could run cars and everything that way, except for very high electrical demand devices. Solar roof panels is only the tip of the iceburg. They hide the true possibilities of photo-voltaic tech.
Another possibility is "acutron" tech, which is very reliable and relatively permanent, as it reuses electricity via tuning fork principle.

I know one who claims that during Korea, army jeeps were able to run on water or gas, with an adjustment to the engine. "Browns' gas" (hydroxy gas) is another suppresesed energy tech.

Alernative energy inventions get bought out and buried often, by those who profit by being selfish parasites.

Obama mentioned in his State of the Union address that he wanted to drill for oil AND : build more nuclear power plants!

Sure let's not drill anywhere around or in the USA, let's keep sending hundreds of billions a year overseas to foriegn oil production nations while everything else in the USA economy dies.

When all this "free" energy power reduction is done in the USA and the fullest economic collapse takes place some one is going to inherit a very large rather nice and clean resort park with hundreds of millions of square miles -- its just not going to be the US citizens or their kids.

We need to be building Nuclear Fusion power plants right now, and thorium reactors and uranium pebble bed reactors rightn now.

Sure rooftop residential power could be supplied by rooftop solar panel arrays, but the cost would be truely staggering, and tax credit and tax incentives will in no way offset the cost.

We need to be developing eveyr possible form of energy production, but returning to some of the 'old technologies' of the early 20th Century will simply not do the trick.

The reason is much that same as the reason that most people do not grow their own food in enough quantity to feed themselves and their whole family for an entire year. Lack of space, and lack of LABOR.

At leasty there is one thing, if the only thing, that Obama apparently will do as he promised. But then, I keep looking for the Gotcha.. like we drill the wells but some other nations gets the oil and then sells it back to us?
