Why would Alexander spread Greek culture, language and religion if he were not Greek. I asked the same question in another post.  He spread Hellenistic culture; that is the diference. Like in our time there is distinct difference between Western/Euro culture and Asian culture.... There is no Euro nation/state or Asian nation/state but in general there is more similarity in France and Germany than France and Cambodia or Germany and Thailand... Hellenistic culture is one of origins of Euro culture, but helenistic Greek nation is extinct nation like Etruscan [ link to en.wikipedia.org]
