For those who know little or next to nothing about Macedonia
and how it was, it changed both size and shape over the Millennia...here is a brief time-line summary of important historical events.

So, do we really know enough about Macedonia...Well Yes we do! We know all this:

Grecia [Hellas] under latin-Roman rule constituted the provinces of Macedonia and Achaea, but the Romans whether they were Latin-speaking or Greek-speaking were very political people, they knew how to play politics with names and geography, for example:

211 BC, Macedonia is assigned provincial status to a Roman consul.

168 BC, Macedonia becomes Roman protectorate under the authority of the Senate...after the Roman victory at Pidna.

149-148 BC, Macedonia is annexed to the latin-Roman Empire after crushing the rebellion of Andriscos [Pseudo-Philip V].

146 BC, Macedonia and Achaea of [Hellas] Grecia come under the official rule of the latin-Roman Empire after the battle of Corinth.

133 BC, The Aegean-Islands of [Hellas] Grecia are incorporated into the latin-Roman Empire.

27 BC, Augustus created the province of Achaea in the Greek [Haemus] Peninsula, and from the 2nd - 3rd Centuries AD, Grecia is subdivided into the provinces of Achaea, Macedonia, Epirus, Thrace and Moesia.

384 AD, The Emperor Theodosius divides again, the empires Grecian territories. The provinces are now Crete, Achaea, Thessalia, Epirus Vetus, Epirus Nova, Macedonia-Prima and Macedonia II Salutaris.

FYRoM sits on the territories the latin-Romans called Macedonia Secunda Salutaris...the extended and enlarged parts, the added-on parts to real Macedonia the latin-Romans called Macedonia-Prima, meaning the first and foremost Macedonia. This is the way the Roman Empire distinguished the ancient-Greek Kingdom of Macedon from the added-on territories.

From here onward...384 BC, the latin-Roman-Empire gives way to the Greco-Roman Empire, also known as Byzantium or the Eastern-Roman Empire.

The next time Macedonia goes through some profound and equivocal changes, was when the Greek speaking [Romioi] Byzantines surprisingly move the name "Macedonia" to a completely different geographic location. The Greco-Romans shifted the Macedonian-Name, lock stock and barrel to Thrace, a political decision light-years ahead of it's time...Those Byzantines demonstrated Ownership over the Macedonian name by doing what they did, much like their latin-Roman predecessors did with Macedonia II Salutaris.

Why did the latin-Romans did what they did to Macedonia, I mean, administer over the Prima-Macedonia and Secunda-Macedonia ???

Why did the Greco-Roman Byzantines did what they did to Macedonia, I mean, shift it's geographic location to Thrace. They moved the name...but Why ???
