We met when I was 39 and he was 21.
He races cars and my son brought him home after meeting him at a race. He got out of the car and smiled at me and that was it.
Love at first sight..
That was nearly 4years ago and we are going strong..

Problem now is he's fully sponsored and hitting the big time racing and he's SMOKING HOT..
Everywhere we go girls are hitting on him and for the first time in our relationship i'm feeling a bit uneasy and wondering if i'm going to lose him..
I look great and young for my age and he's proud as hell of me.
Am I right to feel a bit insecure?

I will assume this is Poster is being honest with their posting here..

Speaking from experience, I encourage you to seriously consider the impact that the 'passage of time' will have on your relationship.

Twenty years from now you will be 62 and he will be 44 years old. You will most likely struggle to remain relevant in his life. All of the minor differences the two of you have acknowledged will seem have become accumulative to both of you.

By the time he is 50 you will be 68. He will by then wonder who is going to be there for him at your age. You may regret the position you've placed him in by occupying this place in his life for so long.

The 'hook' is already deeply embedded in both of you. It may seem you would not survive its removal. There is no guarantee the life you free will prosper in your absence, but a certainty your life will be diminished.

The issue here is much greater than one of competition.

Re: I'm 42 and my boyfriend is 24!
don't lsiten to these jealous shills, you sound liek a cool, smart lady.

your bf is experiancing a change in lifstyle, regardless of age it's perfectly normal for you to be a tad insecure.

important thing is that he shows you he is proud of you and he loves you and he wants you.

just Love him.
shower him with affection and Love and let him know as much as you can with actions and words that he is loved, appreciated and respected.

i think when people live together all day should be a sort of foreplay, and sex should be frequent and imaginative.

anything can be, and is really foreplay.

from tiding up so it's niocer for you and your loved ones, to taking care of a screaming kid, coz the othe person needs a break, to being amazing with someonme's grandkids....

there are no guarantees in life, the best we can do is love each other as much as humanly possible or more.

there are a lot jealus people on GLP, envious of other people's lives, why wldn't you love someone 20 years younger.
if you were a man, you would get much less crap.

double standard much everyone?

If your relationship is based on looks alone, you've just wasted four years of your life AND it looks like you need to grow up a bit mentally and emotionally to catch up with your age.

Relationships that last a lifetime (which are the best kind!) are based on mutual interests, values and respect, not sex and 'hotness'.

A big part of your attraction for him was likely your confidence. Sounds like that's fading. Soon you'll be clinging and getting whiny. Better to make your exit with the audience wanting more than to overstay your welcome and get booed off the stage.

Good luck with your next relationship. I say that from my heart. I hope you find a real keeper (not necessarily a 'looker') that you can confidently share your life with.

Most guys don't want kids anymore, OP.

We all know relationships are based on sex. As long as your company is somewhat enjoyable and you keep him worn out you are good to go.

Most women your age are incredibly hot or obese. You probably took good care of yourself and have 15 years of being smoking hot if you keep it up. But really, with stem cells and such coming down the pipe to return us to permanent youthfulness, you could very well be looking at being hot the rest of your several hundred year long life.

Being hot gets old really fast, both for the person being it and the person beholding it. There's so much more to life than 'hotness'. Or perhaps you meant "hot" as in hot flash?

Re: I'm 42 and my boyfriend is 24!
Was there many years ago as the younger guy in the relationship which had close to the same age difference as yours, but I was a bit older than he was when you started dating.

Like you claim to be, the woman I was with looked MANY years younger than her real age, and worked hard to keep herself looking younger. In fact she looked better than virtually all women of my own age (and MUCH sexier - ex NYC model who actually looked better older than she did when she was an active model imo).

I will say it was the most stable and positive relationship I have ever had with a woman.

Eventually our relationship "died" because of the underlying issue of me wanting to have kids (she already had kids and couldn't have any more), but we had talked about that issue long before and she knew that it was something that was important to me. We didn't have a fight that caused the breakup, in fact in the 7 years we were together I can't recall a single fight about anything, it was just time for me to start looking for someone who could give me kids before I totally "aged out".

Today, many years later we are STILL very good friends and exchange e-mails regularly and get together for dinner once a year or so (and maybe see each other another time or two). Nothing like the Demi Moore, Ashton Kutchner drama to say the least.

Now that I am older I understand that a LARGE part of HER attraction to me WAS that I was younger and very energenic, particularly compared to men of her age bracket (she was a high energy person). Obviously the subconsciousness of that is partially trying to "recapture" part of one's lost youth (reason why men, if they can pull it off, often date women 10 to 15 years younger than themselves when they hit their mid life crisis).

For ME the attraction was an extremely good looking woman who was POSITIVE towards me, intelligent, and adventurous. I was tired of the drama filled bimbo mindset that most women of my age were ... and really was looking for someone with not just a body but had something upstairs, NO DRAMA, and a positive attitude about life and me.

Good luck!!

OH ... and btw I know two older couples who have now been topgether 20+ years each where the woman is about 20 years older than the guy. In both of those couples the parties are totally dedicated to the other party ... but oh does the woman WORK hard to stay in shape so she continues to have the energy level to keep up with her younger husband.

I would expect this relationship to end soon. Start looking for someone closer to your age, and you should tell him you know the relationship will end with him, so he knows you're not naive. You don't want to be Demi Moore.
He has a lot of life ahead of him and it would be a great kindness to let him go.

Re: I'm 42 and my boyfriend is 24!
I think your insecurities are well founded.
But, I will also say this....when us older women go out with younger men, it is best to look at it a certain way....it is not a "lifetime" thing...but merely a nice stop on our way down life's path.
I go out with younger men all the time, but I never look at it being anything more than just "fun".
These younger men like us older women for a couple of reasons...the first and formost 1 I've been told is " we can teach them things sexually that our younger counterparts can't"...they also tell me that we are "less drama" than younger women.
So, I think you need to adjust your thinking here, and then you won't be hurt when he decides that he WANTS TO START A FAMILY...which pretty much all younger men will do at some point.
Understand that you are preparing him for a life with other women...because in essance, that is exactly what you are doing.
Be a good teacher while he is in your life....and be ready to say a peaceful " it's been great being with you" when he has learned what he needed from you, and is preparing to leave you, go out on his own.
I think if you look at it that way, the time you all have spent together will bring more good memories than hurtful ones.
Hopefully too, the time he spent with you...you will teach him how to treat a woman, how to not be a "selfish lover", how ADULTS handle relationships...and our Sisters down the road will benefit from it.
 Quoting: Woodsprite

Just know, sex and how annoying you are just became the standards for your value. Based upon what you've said, of course.
