LOUD BOOM/EXPLOSION SOUND IN LONG BEACH, CA

are you serious? there is another thread with the same occurence in washington. could be a warning sign for the big one in cali that is still due...

Absolutely serious, my poor little boy is still freaked out, checked the local news, no mention of it. He's also still freaked out by the earthquake as well.

Damn....I never held much sway to the whole "California breaking off" theory....but I am beginning to wonder!

Did it roar and jolt the ground like the San Diego booms? I was there in 2006 - definitely different then your average earthquake.

Sounded like an explosion, but there was none. The only other thing to compare it to was huge thunderheads like a storm in the south of the US. Current conditions here are sunny and cold. No rain clouds. It was much louder than any kind of thunder we get here near the beach.

Hi there, I just moved to Long Beach (90806), CA since April. Recently, I notice that there is loud boom sound every night like in between 9pm - 11pm. Sometimes, it happens like @ midnight. For sure, it happens every night. In the day time, it happens like sometimes, but it happens quite often @ around like 2pm-3pm. It's kind off annoying and sometimes it scares me. I did ask my neighbor who lives next to me, they said they heard that too. However, the neighbor who lives behind my yard, said that they didn't hear anything. Can some please help me?

I live off 4th and cherry ave. I have never heard anything. I've been living here for about a year and a half.

Long Beach has oil pumps everywhere and refineries all over.

Better get used to more than just a loud boom.

In regards to the noise, do you live near the 405, they do a lot of construction at night. We do get a lot of fighter jets overhead and sometimes the C5 or C17 planes can be very loud. I've lived in LB for almost 11 years, aside from the air traffic, we do have some mysterious loud booms.

I live near the 405 & 710. Sometimes, I can feel the minor vibration.

Trust me between bowing and all bp/standard oil/ ext.

Long beach ca is a very speshal place.

No, you should worry because some day it's going to be BOOM! As one of their tanks that isn't being maintained properly goes haywire.

It's happened before.

If you really want to stay there, I suggest putting on minimum some sort of window tint. Better stuff is that security stuff you put on and if someone takes a hammer to the window they still can't get through.

Windows get blown out there all the time. At least with the window tint it might not shatter towards you.

And who knows what you are breathing, get some good filters and don't open windows.

Buy gas masks in case something happens. It might give you the time to get out of there.

Don't lissin to whoever is going on about tank safty and gas masks.

If its à long one then it prolly nothing if it was à short boom i would be packing My shit and move somewhere Else fast.

If the boom is short it may be à Sudden shift in the earths mantle, it like ice, first they crack and then they move, what you heard was then most likely the crack... Remember the plates move all the time so you might have à continent pushing on that crack as we speak, be safe op
