Canadian $ worth more than US $

All of these things have been manipulated. I don't think we can tell any more what anything is worth.

This may be good news though for the US. Where I work, my co-workers are planning to go to the US and spend money now. I am sure this thought is across the country.

Canada wont be getting AS many tourists from the US at this rate!

I live in a tourist area where we have always enjoyed lots of American tourists.

In 2009 there was at least a one third drop. This year will be worse no doubt.

How much is gas a liter, and milk in Canada right now?....we'll do some converting to USD...

Even years ago, I noticed people didn't drink much milk...because it was so high. You really had to watch and not grab a old turning bad container....a gallon wasn't even stocked...it appeared.

Canadian Dollar and the Mexican Peso are outpacing most currency right now.

Really....that's not bad...you must be in a more populated place.

It's much easier to introduce a new currency across borders, when all previous currencies are worth the same amount.

But the US will get a lot more tourists from Canada, going down to spend money. Even if our $$'s reach complete parity, the same items are still 25% less in the USA compared to what we pay here, so it makes a trip worthwhile. One guy on the news was saying he bought a pair of shoes in Bellingham that would have cost $100 in Canada and he got them for $25 and he said that alone paid for his trip down there to buy them....

The government media figured they would manipulate the CANADIANS into believing there is an economic recovery. Then they manipulate the dollar to parity and above. The dumb CANADIANS rush down and buy overpriced goods on their credit cards and homes, that they are not allowed to repair, that way they can take ALL of our money to put us in the same sinking boat. SUCKERS.

That would be bad, very, very, very bad. I for one do not want a common currency with the USA and Mexico. That would be one big effen nightmare, for all concerned.

When the can dollar slips, retailers are quick to adjust the prices upwards. When it rises they take their sweet time adjusting down, if ever.

I went to chapters book store yesterday, and the prices are stamped on the book jackets in both Can/US. The Can price is always much higher regardless of the dollars value.

ANOTHER CANADIAN SUCKER! The US has so much overstocked junk they need suckers like you to buy it..All be ECONOMIC design.

I buy my milk and butter in the US all the time.

Last week it was $1.99/gallon at Krogers (at least half our price!)and the butter was $1.50/lb at Walmart! (what is it here $4.00/lb?)...1/2 and 1/2 was $1.50 as well for a quart (about a litre). I don't know why their dairy is so cheap and ours so expensive (probably the milk board).

Was talking to some RV haulers over the weekend and they told me that the demand for RV's (mostly made in the US) was skyrocketing across Canada due to the strong Canadian Dollar. They had as much delivery work to Canada as they wanted, actually MORE requests for delivery of RV's to Canada than they had the time or equipment to move. (5th wheel's, travel trailers, etc.)

I am certain that other types of big ticket consumer items that are made in the US that Canadians buy are seeing the same dynamic ... exploding purchases of those items by Canadians.

This year we will NOT be traveling to Canada (except maybe a short trip to see the falls again) ... we will wait for the Canadian Dollar to drop back down again. Places south of the border ie: South America, the islands, Mexico, looks like our destinations of choice this year

I remember a couple years ago when our gas was over $4 a gallon here in the US that our dollar sunk below the canadian dollar for awhile too. Then it went back up, but I don't think it ever got back to 1 of ours being equal to 1-1/2 of theirs! That was quite awhile ago.

Even out US/Canadian dollar + amnesty for illegal aliens (all of Mexico) = recipe for 1 currency and the American Union (AU).
