Keyboards are just made up of plastic atoms. You can manipulate these plastic atoms in each key to make your keyboard work. Each key has a symbol or letter on it and has a unique touch and feel relative to every other key.
The key can be popped off and the mechanism under the key can be fixed. It has a cord that plugs into the computer like the nerve cord that extends from your fingers up your arms through your spinal cord to your brain. The keyboard has a "driver" that tells the computer operating system how it works just like your brain having a learned control of how your muscles and sinews work.
Once one masters how computer keyboard works and learns how to fix problems associated with it, one can move on to fixing other peripheral devices like mice, monitors, and video displays.
