Centipede In My Bed!!!!!!!!
I just turned out the light and rolled over and zap!, it felt like I rolled onto a needle.

It was dark but I felt and heard it scurry across the bed. Scared my cat - she jumped down and chased it under a chair.

Can't find the evil thing - I've got to sleep knowing it's still in here and if it liked my bed before....

Here's what they *shudder* look like.

This is the first time in the 9 years I've lived here that I've been stung.

Starting to swell and burn now but I've had hornet and wasp stings that were worse.

Just hard to go to sleep knowing it's nearby abd still alive. They're really hard to kill too - when you cut them in pieces, each segment starts running around on it's own. Ugh!

I've never been stung by one. Does it feel like a bee sting? They're pretty common here but don't get too large, millipedes on the other hand get huge.

Felt like a needle - he got me on the shoulder.

I know people who've been stung in much worse places. Kid I know had one crawl into his pants and I think you can guess the rest.

Freaky. My sister was stung by a brown scorpion in her bed, she had an allergic reaction but we got her to the hospital fast. Black widows are very common here. I've caught many of them.

You mean you have been living with them for 9 years, and since they didn't sting until now, you just ignored it?

I can only imagine how huge the nest is by now!

LOL! I'm in Hawaii - they're everywhere here (even fancy hotels) - especially when it's been raining alot. I've killed many of them - this is just my first sting. Blowtorches take care of them nicely. :)

No that would be me. Steaming hellhole Florida. I saw a tiny scorpion on the floor when we first moved here and I wanted to leave forever. I couldn't imagine seeing a lot of centipedes. I would freaked out.

I grew up in Louisiana, but we had no bugs because we had a pest control guy that came every month, and no food or drinks were allowed out of the kitchen.

I am one of those people who go off the deep end if I see a bug. LOL

Thanks for the info!

I can't abide roaches, although I've never seen one anywhere I've lived in the UK.

I saw plenty, and had to buy many cans of Raid, when I lived and worked in the Middle East, though.

The one in my bed wasn't that big - maybe about 4 inches by the size of the marks on my shoulder. They do get over a foot long though.

I feel for you

I, and the swedish girl I was with, both got bitten by one of these whilst in Thailand about 3 years ago

[link to www.siam-info.com]

mine was in my inside thigh on my right leg and swelled up like half a tennis ball and i couldnt walk for about 3 days, hers was on her right calf but hers didnt swell up much. Must of got us both in the night ! we were sleeping in a beach hut and she found the little bastard the morning after in her shoe. killed it instantly

If it swells uo like mine did you will need a steroid cream which I got from the local pharmacy

apart from that didnt get any other symptoms
