A technique similar to this was demonstrated around 1800 by a German acoustical physicist called Ernst Chladni who demonstrated that rubbing a violin bow vertically up and down the edge of a round metal plate onto which he had sprinkled some sand, created strange circular patterns as the sand vibrated to the tones created by the bow.

Chladni´s pioneering work, which demonstrated that sound could move matter, took nearly 100 years before it was re-discovered by Swiss scientist Hans Jenny who devoted his life to this new science he called "cymatics".

It is my belief that the huge stones forming ancient stone circles such as Stonehenge and Avebury could possibly have been moved their vast distances by using a form of cymatics. A similar event was witnessed by a Dr Jarl, an Oxford University student, in Tibet in 1939 when he photographed Tibetan monks levitating a five ton stone slab purely by the tones of 19 musical instruments. Further research into these ideas will form future articles."

The Chladni Figures and Wavenumbers

While investigating the various tones of music, Ernst Chladni (1756-1827) made a classic experiment to show the effects of harmonic vibrations. He spread fine sand over a glass or metal plate and set it into vibration with the bow of a violin by scraping the bow along one edge of the plate. The bow would alternately stick and slip in rapid succession on the edge of the plate to create waves of sand (also sound waves). He would hold the plate between his fore finger and thumb; the point where the plate is held is, of course, a node where there can be no movement. The bow sets up waves that move across the plate and then are reflected from the edges. The reflected waves become superimposed on the new waves coming from the bow edge. This results in symmetrical patterns of nodal lines where the plate is not moving. Figure 1 shows square and circular plates that are being held in the center. Hans Jenny (1901-1972)

Cymatics, the study of wave phenomena, is a science pioneered by Swiss medical doctor and natural scientist Hans Jenny (1904-1972). For fourteen years, Jenny conducted experiments animating inert powders, pastes, and liquids into life-like, flowing forms that mirrored patterns found throughout nature, art, and architecture.

What´s more, all of these patterns were created using simple sine-wave vibrations (pure tones) within the audible range. So what you see in cymatic patterns is an actual physical representation of vibration—how sound manifests into form through the medium of various materials.

MUSIC IN THE FIELDS

For over twenty years the normally quaint and quiet English countryside has slowly been overrun by a phenomenon more akin to It Came From Outer Space than to cream tea. Fields long accustomed to entertaining wheat, barley, or canola are, with increasing frequency, playing host to magnificent pictograms in the form of crop circles: areas of flattened crop as large as 100,000 square feet where plants are bent an inch above soil level and gently laid down in geometrically-precise pictograms, with no visible signs of damage or human entry.

Ancient Greeks once remarked that geometry is frozen music. To their Egyptian teachers, sacred geometry and music were inextricably linked since the laws of the former govern the mathematical intervals that make up the notes in the western music scale the diatonic ratios. Coincidentally, Hawkins´ Euclidean theorems had also produced diatonic ratios. So for the first time, geometric theorems were linked with music and crop circles were proved to contain musical notes, which are themselves the by-product of the harmonic laws of sound frequency.

The fields themselves offered blatant clues pointing to a sound component. In 1996 a crop circle demonstrated the combination of two important figures, the 3, 4, 5 triangle and the Golden Mean, which gives us the diagram necessary to produce musical ratios (as exemplified in The Divine Proportion by H.E.Huntley).

The formations´ physical location may play a part in this. In Dowsing Crop Circles, two decades of collective research by noted dowsers Richard Andrews and Hamish Miller, among others, reveals that crop circles have been materializing over major ley lines the earth´s magnetic energy grid or their tributaries. Miller had also observed, together with Paul Broadhurst in The Sun and the Serpent, how this energy congregates at stone circles and tumuli. Imagine his surprise to find crop circles energetically linked to these ancient sites and their magnetic grid.

In noted cases such as the cyclopean triple Julia Set fractal formation at Windmill Hill in 1996, crop circles appear over the node point where the male and female lines intersect and discharge dowsable patterns of energy. These invisible fingerprints, which can last up to a year after all visible signs of the formation have been tilled, were discovered by Miller to have coherent geometric structures Teutonic crosses, 9-, 10- and 12-pointed stars, the same geometric patterns which formed part of esoteric mathematical teaching in Egyptian, Buddhist, and Arabic cultures, and since popularized in the West by Pythagoras.

This relationship between geometry, math, and music is especially important in Buddhist mandalas, whose elaborate geometries are claimed to be the physical manifestation of chants which are then used for meditation. In Arabic culture these relationships have been meticulously preserved in ceramic tile design. In both cases, the geometry mirrors crop circle designs in either their outward appearance or in their respective construction skeleton which, in turn, bear a familiarity to Jenny´s photographic evidence.

It´s no coincidence that a large percentage of crop circles can be identified with and by ancient cultures. To this day their histories are honored through song and music, their healing rituals performed with sound or rhythm. In Secrets of the Soil, Peter Tomkins reveals how Hopi natives danced in a field during a severe drought, chanting specific notes. By harvest time the only area in the vicinity to yield a harvestable crop was the one exposed to their vibratory tones. A parallel situation exists in England, where farmers whose fields have played host to genuine crop circles report an increase in yield and healthier-looking, pest-resistant plants."

Frozen Music

Cymatics is the study of sound waves and their interaction with physical substances. One of its modern pupils was Swiss scientist Hans Jenny who, throughout the 1950s and ’60s, painstakingly captured on film the effects of sound as it interacted with powders and liquids.

He observed how sound vibration created geometric shapes: a low frequency produced a simple circle encompassed by rings, whereas a higher frequency increased the number of concentric rings around a central circle. As the frequencies rose, so did the complexity of shapes, to the point where tetrahedrons, mandalas, and other sacred geometric forms could be discerned.

Just as the Egyptians had once described geometry as “frozen music,” so Jenny now enabled humanity to see it. Jenny also provided a physical connection to the creation of crop circles. Many of the vibrational patterns captured in his photos mimic their designs, from the simple circle surrounded by concentric rings typical of early 1980s designs to the tetrahedron and the complex star fractals of the 1990s.

Visually, then, the connection is undeniable. But what evidence links sound and crop circles at a physical level?

Many accounts exist of a trilling sound heard by witnesses to crop circles forming. This unusual noise, which sounds like a cross between a cicada and a waterfall, was eventually captured on magnetic tape in 1989 during a night watch of a field at Cheesefoot Head, England, by a group of researchers. It was duly sent to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, where it was brought to the attention of Robert Weiss, the man who had previously analyzed the famous Watergate tapes. He concluded that the noise was not related to any type of bird or insect, and due to its looping, rhythmic nature appeared to be of intelligent, mechanical origin. Further, it contained a frequency of 5.0–5.2 kilohertz.

Later that summer the trilling sound was captured again, this time by a BBC cameraman while recording an interview inside a crop circle. A few seconds after its appearance, it rendered his $55,000 camera useless. According to the technicians who later rebuilt the equipment, the sound frequency interfered with the circuitry to such a degree that the camera would not work after that episode.

Interestingly, latter-day Australian Aborigines relate to this trilling sound. During their ceremonies to contact their “sky spirits,” a specially-shaped piece of wood called a bora is attached to the end of a long string and whirled, creating a noise practically identical to the crop circle sound. It was later discovered that not only have crop circles appeared in Australia, they also manifest throughout Aboriginal myths, just as their geometries appear in ancient Aboriginal rock paintings."

Science is only now beginning to discover these interrelationships of sound and matter.

And as several articles in the Spirit of Ma´at have reported, Dr. Masaru Emoto has proven over and over again, through photographing water crystals, that there is a geometrical correspondence between human thoughts and emotions and the very shape of the matter that surrounds us. Water, Emoto has shown, "treated" with love or beautiful music, undergoes molecular change into beautiful, harmonious geometrical forms. And the same happens in reverse: chaotic or "negative" thought and emotion cause the crystals of water to become unformed and unlovely.

These ideas are modern reflections of timeless principles well known to all ancient and indigenous cultures.

As Billy Yellow, a Navajo medicine man, sums it up: "Our task is to chant the world, chant the beauty. The world is a reflection of our chanting."

Jenny came to the conclusion that sound creates form and that the entire human body had its own sound made up of all the sounds of its cells, tissues and organs.

Principles of Sound Healing

Entrainment
The principle of entrainment explains how sound healing works. A harmonious sound projected at a person who is in a state of disharmony will eventually bring them into resonance with the harmonious sound. Our atoms, molecules, cells, glands and organs all have a vibrational frequency. Sounds from outside our body will stimulate sympathetic vibration in the molecules and cells of our body.

Intention
The sound wave created by a person singing or playing an instrument will carry information to the receiver of the sound. We all know that a song can be sung with a loving intention or an aggressive intention. When a mother sings a lullaby to her child, the child feels the love in the mother’s voice and is rocked to sleep. At a football match, fans sing aggressive chants directed at the opposing supporters and their team. Here the intention is to intimidate.

Sympathetic Resonance
When two objects have similar vibratory characteristics that allow them to vibrate at the same frequency, they form a resonant system. When a ‘C’ tuning fork is struck, another ‘C’ tuning fork close by will also begin to vibrate. For healing to occur there must be a resonance or rapport between healer and patient.

Pure Tone
Jonathan Goldman in his book Healing Sounds says, “When we have learned techniques for harmonic toning, the human voice is able to create nearly every frequency, at least within the bandwidth of audible frequency.” Jonathan offers the simple formula, “Frequency plus Intention equals Healing.” If we can find a pure sound frequency coupled with a pure intention then healing will occur. When our body receives a pure tone our muscles will relax and tension will be released.24

Some of the Greek philosophers like Pythagoras and Plato understood creation to be based on sound and music, and they used geometry as part of their language. Goethe once said: "Geometry is frozen music."

Sound and music do not have to be physical, traveling through the air etc. You can hear a song in your heart or mind with no physical sound. Music exists in the mind of a composer before it gets written and performed. Therefore this tiangle, and the sound it represents, is still on the spiritual level, which is why the original sound is called the "soundless sound". The closest approximation to this original soundless sound is the OM or AUM.

An American acoustics engineer - Tom Danley, has been working with colleagues in a company called Intersonics, on research which has led to Acoustic Levitation and Positioning Devices, which have been tested by NASA.
They filed a U.S. patent in 1991 stating :-

An acoustic levitator includes a pair of opposed sound sources which have interfering sound waves producing acoustic energy wells in which an object can be levitated. The phase of one sound source may be changed relative to the other in order to move the object along an axis between the sound sources.

He refused to share any of his secrets until his work was complete, and this made matters worse for him. He eventually burned all his papers and destroyed his equipment, leaving him to live out his remaining years, poor and forgotten."

The Great Pyramid: Early Reflections & Ancient Echoes
TestTones, Indiana Jones and the Lost Knowledge of Yore

Editor’s Note: Sometimes a story comes out in a way that rolls the whole. What follows encapsulates audio, acoustics, truth, fiction, legend, innuendo, road rage, taboo, and prognostication. We hope you find it fine reading for an unspoiled moment.

For some twenty years I worked for Intersonics Inc., a company which developed experimental space flight hardware for sounding rockets and the space shuttle and also did contract R&D.

It was while there, the Boss let me launch the Servodrive part of the company. The caveat was “as long as all it costs was space and lights.” So we were off in our “spare time” to create some “perfect bass.”

MULTI-MODAL TEF

With so much of the company’s NASA work having to do with acoustics and having good measurements, we were also one of the early companies to get a TEF machine. Being the main “acoustics guy,” I used the TEF to measure vibration resonances in space flight payloads and locate flaws in concrete blocks (looking for echoes).

Another task set was to measure/develop new transducers for acoustic levitation, another for producing a sonic boom. I even used TEF for measuring resonant modes on pecan shells. Let’s just say it got seriously “multi-tasked.”

While at Intersonics, a movie company asked to film the acoustic levitation process used by our space flight hardware.

I ended up demonstrating it and being in the movie (“Mystery of the Sphinx” with Charlton Heston).

During filming I had made a wisecrack to the producer about going to Egypt and measuring the Pyramids.

Several years later, the same producer calls up out of the blue and asks if I was interested in “finding out why the inside of the Great Pyramid sounded so weird.” This would be for another movie — all expenses paid and a decent “nut” to boot.

Some quick research on the Pyramid revealed it was a lot bigger than I imagined. It had a number of chambers and levels above the “King’s Chamber” — opening the possibility that it was not a “simple”acoustic system. A rough (and I mean rough) estimation of the resonance of the granite ceiling beams in the King’s chamber put them at about 300Hz. A somewhat less rough helmholtz resonator and transmission line model suggested resonances starting at 2.5Hz or so."

"Ancient pyramids that chirp like birds? Sounds like the stuff of science fiction. But if you stand in front of the Maya temple of Kulkulcan at Chichen Itza, Mexico, and clap your hands, the building will indeed tweet back. Locals claim the chirp sounds like the song of the quetzal bird held sacred by the indigenous Maya people as a messenger of the gods.

David Lubman, a consultant in acoustics (the science of sound), easily figured out that the unusual chirped echo is the result of sound echoing from the steps in the temple’s long staircase. Because the steps are at different distances from a listener their echoes do not arrive at the same moment but arrive at nearly periodic intervals. Periodic echoes are heard as a tone. The time between echoes from each step gradually lengthens for higher steps, causing the perception of a tone with a downward chirp. Lubman and other researchers have found similar effects at several Maya and Aztec temples in Mexico and Guatemala.

The question is: Was this echo created intentionally? Some archaeologists are doubtful, but Lubman and others feel that the Maya had a sophisticated understanding of acoustics and purposely constructed their temples to achieve the sound. Lubman imagines that priests used the effect to make it seem as if the gods were “speaking” to them in the voice of the quetzal, which was sure to impress upon worshippers the power of the gods and the priests."

"Take a look at a guitar.

It is divided into segments called ´frets´. These fret divisions help the musician find the correct chords. Notice how the frets get smaller and smaller the closer they get to the body of the guitar. If you were to look on a slide rule (if you can still find one) you will notice it is graduated (divided in intervals) with logarithmic scales. The gradations (or measurement lines) decrease or get smaller towards one end. There is a relationship between the frets of a guitar and logarithmic measures because they decrease with the same proportions.

Logarithmic characteristics can be found in architecture, nature, biology, and music (just to name a few). If you know how to look for it, you can find it. One logarithmic quality of great importance is the Fibonacci sequence. Once you understand this sequence, you will begin to understand the true healing potential of sound.

Leonardo Fibonacci (alias Leonardo of Pisa) was a mathematician born around 800 years ago back in medieval times (1175AD). He noticed that all plants grow in a certain way. A plant will grow one leaf, and then it will grow one more. In order to do that, it simply adds what it just grew to where it is now to determine what to grow next. The sequence goes like this: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233... At the 5th leaf (in preparation to grow the next bunch) the plant looks back at what it just grew (3), adds it to where it is now (5) and then grows: 8 more leaves. This is organic structure. Leonardo noticed that the number of petals a plant has directly corresponds to this sequence.

One thing about this Fibonacci sequence is that it creates a curve. The sequence is blended into this curve or spiral. Some Fibonacci spirals are really noticeable. For example, the horn of a ram curls around with the same ratio and so do nautilus shells. Sometimes you´ll see spirals going in both directions at once. You can see this on a pine cone or a sunflower. If you count the number of spirals going one way relative to the number of spirals going in the opposite direction, they are going to create the Fibonacci series. An example would be 34 spirals going one way and 55 spirals going the other way. In sunflowers, you will find the ratios 5-8, 8-13...all the way up to 144-233 counter rotating spirals.

So why does the Fibonacci series play an important role in understanding how music effects organic structure? First relate the sequence to music. First we should look at the life of the bee. Remember hearing about the immaculate conception of Yeshua Ben Joseph (aka Jesus). This "virgin birth" happens frequently in nature. A female bee, for example, can have a male bee anytime by herself -- no male fertilization is needed. If she wants to have a female bee, she has to physically mate with a male. By looking at the family tree (backward) of this male bee that was born from immaculate conception, an interesting thing appears. Remember, a female can make a male bee with out mating. A bee to be born as a female needs both a male a female parent.

As you trace back the family tree of this male bee, you will notice the Fibonacci sequence or series. With the series sequence given above, you can easily trace back as far as you want into the male bee´s family. All sorts of things do this in nature. If you stop at 13 in the Fibonacci sequence of the bee´s family tree, you can directly relate the Fibonacci bee pattern to Sound Harinonics.

If you take a set of piano keys and make the white keys male and the black keys female, look how they line up in the sequence as the chromatic scale (C, C# , D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, A#, B, C). Removing the white keys gives you the octave scale and removing the black keys gives you the pentatonic scale. This also creates a reversal of the Fibonacci sequence (lower right side). This is a direct right-brained way of showing you that organic structure and sound are harmonically related. This relationship becomes clearer when you introduce the little known knowledge on sacred geometry.

Here´s a little taste on what ancient people knew about the Fibonacci sequence. If you apply this logarithmic (fibonacci sequence) spiral to a particular spot on Earth, an interesting thing will happen... all the ancient sacred structures & places (i.e. temples, pyramids) all line up along the spiral. All the sacred sites on this planet are laid out on either Fibonacci or Logarithmic spirals. They are all connected mathematically and arrive back at a particular spot on the planet. You could even calculate where every single sacred site is on the planet from this spot if you knew how to do so. Obviously, the ancient peoples knew something that we don´t know. This Fibonacci logarithmic sequence is the key to moving all life up to new levels with sound.

Ancient sound technologies are much different than current sound technologies. Sound based technologies had great sacred geometric characteristics. Geometry is often overlooked in modern sound therapy techniques. This is why ancient-type global broadcasting of sound for healing seems very unknown to most people.

The sound qualities of ancient temples and structures are the tools for global population healing through sound. If you just want to heal a few people rather than billions, then a small room is needed with various sound/electronic/musical devices or whatever. Mass population healing has to involve ancient sound technologies and knowledge.

Did you know that if you bang on the ´coffer´ in the King´s Chamber in the great pyramid it will ´ring´ or sound as a Perfect A?"

Argentinian-Italian researcher Hugo Zucarelli recently extended the holographic model into the world of acoustic phenomena. Puzzled by the fact that humans can locate the source of sounds without moving their heads, even if they only possess hearing in one ear, Zucarelli discovered that holographic principles can explain this ability.

Zucarelli has also developed the technology of holophonic sound, a recording technique able to reproduce acoustic situations with an almost uncanny realism.

Itzhak Bentov was born in Czechoslovakia and moved to America, he became an inventor and specialized in the creation of new medical instrumentation. He died shortly after writing this book in a flying accident.

None of which prepares the reader for the model of the universe which Bentov proposes. This is a fascinating book and will be of interest to all who study psychic matters and are interesting in a “model” of reality which reflects their own experiences.

Bentov says: “I am attempting in this book to build a model of the universe that will satisfy the need for a comprehensive picture of ‘what our existence is all about.’

In other words, a holistic model that encompasses not only the physical, observable universe that is our immediate environment and the distant universe observed by our astronomers but also other ‘realities’ as well.”

Referring to psychic phenomena, he says that he will try to explain the underlying mechanisms and explain how they may work. Bentov adds that the general underlying principle in all psychic phenomena is an altered state of consciousness. He says that these altered states allow us to function in realities that are normally not available to us, in our waking state of consciousness.

Bentov says that when taken together all these realities form a large hologram of interacting fields. He notes that the theory of relativity emphasizes that no matter what we observe, we always do so relative to a frame of reference that may differ from someone else’s, that we must compare our frames of reference in order to get meaningful measurements and results about events that we observe.

He says that our reality is a vibratory reality, and there is nothing static in it, that our senses can only appreciate the differences in vibrations. He claims that the electrostatic fields around our bodies can, during mediation resonate with the electrostatic fields of our planet.

Bentov also claims that ‘tangible reality’ exists for us only as long as there is movement; and that when the movement stops, matter and solid reality become diffuse and disappear. Regarding time, he claims that in our reality objective and subjective space-time normally coincide, but that under altered states of consciousness these become separated, allowing us to be clairvoyant.


Bentov then describes the quantity and quality of consciousness; he sees all consciousness as evolving to the ‘absolute’ which is the source of all consciousness.

Matter, being made of quanta of energy, is the vibrating, changing component of pure consciousness.The absolute is fixed, manifest, and invisible. Ours, then, is a vibratory reality – from sub-nuclear to atomic, to molecular to macro-levels – everything is producing “sound”.

Realities are relative, dependent on the position and state of the observer. Bentov says that we all know the human reality, but most of us do not know that human consciousness can be taught to expand and learn how to interact with the whole spectrum of realities. He says that he hopes to show that realities are states of consciousness.

He describes a set of bodies (astral, mental and casual) made of higher harmonics than the physical body which interpenetrate our physical body, and which allows us to interact on different levels of consciousness.

Bentov also says that our brains do not produce thoughts, but are devices for amplifying thoughts. He says that our soul or psyche acts as a bridge between the material body and the spirit, we also have a higher self which is the spiritual us, and that all higher selves are connected and are in constant communication.

Bentov also describes a model of the universe as a closed universe that forms an elongated hollow torus. He says that human psyches form an interference pattern with psyches of all other consciousness in the universe.

Our physical bodies are four-dimensional electromagnetic holograms, which change in time and they are the end products and the result of the interactions of our subtle, non-physical ‘information bodies’. Bentov concludes by saying that the goal of the creator is the evolution of consciousness, that she uses the opposing forces of good and evil to stimulate evolution.

This is an unusual and interesting book, one that you will need to read a couple of times to completely grasp, but one which will help to make sense of our confusion with the world we inhabit."
