hydrogen peroxide in gas tank= better mileage?
Hi all,

Anybody know anything about adding hydrogen peroxide to your gas tank? Good/bad, improved mileage/performance? Directions(how much, how often? H2o2 concentration %3/%32)? Thanks,

D

vinegar works well, yes sugar, and a potatoe just sitting in the tank thins out the surface tension of the fuel 35 percent more for less
more hoss power too true

More power, not necessarily more milage p/gallon. What we are all after is better EFFICANCY. All our experiments and efforts should begin with this principle. Acceleration(+/-) is affected by weight and drag. Get the weight down, check tyre pressures and avoid Hi Accelerations(+/-). Lean and total burn is product of well tuned motor. Light weight moving [internal] parts.

I think you picked the wrong forum
for that question.

Too many lovey-doveys here.

You should try to find a forum where they´re
interested in improving their OWN lives rather
than dispensing luuuuv.

sorry to bring knowledge to your domain, but sugar dont arm the motor.

You would basicly need to fill the tank with sugar for it to have an effect.

I did not say it was good for the motor, but you wont kill your engine.

I saw it on tv, they tested the mith. (Mythbuster)

but i watch them quite often, and might i say that they often forget important variable in their equation. So sugar in tank might be bad.

If you pour hydrogen peroxide into your gas tank, it will immediately decompose into water and oxygen; you´ll actually be doing nothing more than putting water into the tank. If you use concentrated hydrogen peroxide--not the 3% solution you can buy at the drugstore--the decomposition, which is exothermic, would release enough heat to produce an explosion, igniting the gasoline in the process.

In short: don´t do it.

this will do every bit as much as putting acetone in your fuel tank.. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

If you wish to increase your mileage at the expense of your car, by all means go ahead. Hell, take your fuel filter and air filter off as well.

Acetone works for me. Better idle and smoother engine, more responsive (power).

I like to drive out into the country and urinate in my tank. It gives it that special kick that no one else has. It not only increases my power, but it also increases my fuel economy. Also adding a quart or 2 to the radiator also helps keep the engine cooler and it is cheaper than acitone.

Re: hydrogen peroxide in gas tank= better mileage?
1350 is right. this too would produce all the great effects of acetone... NONE!!

If your car is pinging so bad that adding a non-petroleum solvent to your fuel makes it idle smoother you need new rings and/or pistons and/or a valve job. your not prolonging the inevitable, your actually speeding it up by breaking down your oil via contamination. If you think injecting acetone into oil wont change its PH and acidity you´re dead wrong and your car will pay the price.

This is what GLP is all about top notch info like this.

When this was posted previously i made the sugar conversion and my fuel bills are down a good 30%.

I cannot recommend it enough.

My tests with peroxide have only acheived half the results that the sugar did.

I don't know if it would break down to its singular chemical composition BUT it would most certainly begin to foam up, the pressure would likely be to swift and strong for the fuel tank vent causing the tank to explode

OP don't ever believe what you hear on this board, people here are so whacked. Always look for info to substantiate what you hear from us GLPers

Nah Sand, what you want to do is put about 4 pounds of sand in it, its absorbs the petrol and slowly releases it and makes it last longer.

Reading the responses to this thread can only offer you one conclusion Op.

This forum is plagued with pimple faced pud pulling losersthwak bunch of socially emasculated degenerates that have nothing to offer the world but a big mouth and infantile dialog...

Peroxide has explosive properties and to give you an idea just HOW explosive it can be, it must be duly noted that the Russian sub that sank beneath the ice in the arctic was actually destroyed by an internal explosion caused by none othe than peroxide used to propel
their torpedoes.

If you want to boost your mileage and power, then you may want to look into HHO tech...peace

Re: hydrogen peroxide in gas tank= better mileage?
Actually acetone works great because it cleans the fuel system as good or better than those cleaners for 5 - 10 bucks.
I believe around 3 oz per 10 gallons of gas will clean the fuel system and restore power and therefore increase mpg.

I ran acetone for two years and never had a problem.

I have since switched to filling up with a 50/50 mix of ethanol and regular gas. While mpg may actually decrease a little, the cost of e85 is .70 to 1.00 cheaper than gas where I am. It burns cleaner and the acceleration is VERY noticeable probably due to the 110 octane. I have been running it this way for about a year and a half. The engine definitely runs smoother and more power. I drive a 97 f-150 and it works well for me plus it smells like a bar. Your mileage may vary.

Re: hydrogen peroxide in gas tank= better mileage?
Driving smoothly and keeping your engine tuned, air filter clean and tires at correct pressure are the only certain ways to optimize mileage. Acetone MAY do something but I've yet to see any hard evidence. Peroxide is big no no.

This device looks interesting but once again I've yet to see any hard evidence.

Peroxide deteriorates to fast. You basically are diluting your gas with water because the H2O2 will become H2O and O2 before ever reaching the engine.

What I have known some people to do is install a controlled release oxygen tank to their engine. Pretty badass thing to do if you ask me.
