Interactive Map: A history of earthquakes in California
March 17, 2010 | Mark S. Luckie
Since 1855, there have been more than 70 earthquakes in or near California over 6.0 on the Richter scale, some of them very near University of California and California State University campuses. This map shows the locations of those earthquakes (represented by red circles) and the locations of the various campuses. UC and CSU campuses, represented by blue and purple markers, appear the year the campus was founded.

Use the controls in the top left corner of the graphic to show or hide the UC and CSU campuses or restart the graphic at any time. Move your cursor over the blue and purple dots to view the name of the campus.
